Nope just one….
9 airframes at Cranwell at the end of which 8 were airworthy , of those 7 are on the tender document as available for disposal, leaving only XS709 for the RAFM.
The 9th (XS713) is already a basket case, so Duxford will not be getting one unless they are planning to bid for one via the tender……
Its as interesting to see which are not included in that list.
XS709, the first Dominie accepted into RAF service – candidate for the RAFM?
XS713, already been heavily spares stripped and dismantled at Cranwell – possible candidate for a fire dump?

Swift to Brooklands ?
The Swift was spotted road running this morning heading East on the M4 nr J5, certainly looks like it could be Brooklands bound.
Anyone in the vicinity of the museum care to take a look?
Thats Interesting !
I have just read on another forum a report that the Jag is now in ‘Slimelights’ Nightclub in Islington, and this road running report gives it some creedence.
Sadly the same report stated the former Tate SHAR had been reduced to only a nose section within the same establishment, the rest to be scrapped 🙁
Museum examples at East Fortune, Farnborough, Manston, Nowich, Bournemouth and Bentwaters as well as the ACT example at RAFM Cosford, in the UK (off the top of my head)
In Europe, you have examples at Krackow and Baarlo
A full rundown of what is where is available here:
Fairly certain the Prentice was G-APIU, part of the cache of three which surrounded John Coggins compound at the airport for many years.
It was used by Air Atlantique as a spares ship, in the restoration of G-APJB, along with G-AOKO. At some point during this process it was reduced to components and scrapped, ‘KO survived to find a home with Aeroventure at Doncaster.
Those photo’s are taken at Coventry, not Elvington……
Yes it has been returned after a long period on loan. Not something the Museum instigated, but at the end of the day it was on loan and the current custodians had new plans for the exhibit at Sywell.
I’m not aware of any plans to replace it with another 1914-1918 type, although if anyone has one spare I’m sure the museum would be at least interested to hear about it.
I believe the current plan is to fill the void with the Flea partial replica G-AEGV, which has been hiding in the corner of the display hangar out of general view for a number of years.
She has passes away today (15th Jan) after a battle with cancer.
Left an indelible impression on me at the age of 6, when she appeared in ‘that’ film in her sussies………
A sign I am getting old

Come off it, Paul, you know that one’s going to do a Lazarus sometime soon.

Similarly mine arrived on Thursday, after it was available in the shops!
Still can’t complain too much, having taken out a 2 year subscription means I get it at less than the cover price 🙂
The preserved Harrier is ZD669, nice to hear its still on display.
Has it changed much from the picture thats on our site ?
Regards
I suspect this may well be WZ557……..
