Should we restore the infrastructure of Iraq – road systems ,political structures , health care and stop the 600,000 plus slaughter of civilians first?
Sorry, ref to Saddam’s massacres, or just gobbing off about something that you know little about? Your wish list for re-construction has been underway since 2003, just because the media chose not to report it doesn’t mean it’s not happening
Only slight oversight was the lack of mention of Colt’s career as a PAF Station 1945-47 but can’t cram everything into 30 mins I guess
In this month’s Flypast there is an item on bits of a post-war Mosquito being dug-up around Coltishall. Is there anyone from that team posting here and do they want another pair of hands?
That she has overcome her disability to become a world class musician should be applauded and not mocked…….
Unless she moved near an airfield then had the neck to complain about aircraft
Thankfully the spectre of Alconbury is fading as fast as the grass is growing in the cracks on the runway……..
Thankfully? Are you sure you’re on the right forum? I’d have thought most posters here would be in favour of airfields. Bring back the Aggros!
If the PPruners are RAF or ex-RAF
Not exclusivly so, many RN and Army too
May just be a case of inter-service rivalry
I wouldn’t say so as some of his biggest critics are RN

Having read Sharkey Ward’s book,
not the most reliable source concerning the Falklands – see how the PPRuNers, a few who were involved at the time, feel about Sharky – a little too close to the Lord Flashart for comfort. “let’s sit ye down and talk about me” There are better, more ballanced SHAR books out there
100 years plus cataloguing experience between us maybe…
Suitably back in my box them………
So you don’t think a recruitment film can be seen as a piece of propaganda then?
It’s a recruiting film – what do you expect? A full and frank discussion of the shortcomings of the Lightning F1? Propaganda? I tend to save that for ‘Triumph of the Will’ kind of stuff – you could see almost anything as propaganda if you really want, if your definition is lose enough. The East Germans used to look on BFBS television as propaganda, East Enders and Corrie bringing the decadent west into the comrades’ homes
Nice to see whoever does the IWM film wrie-ups dosn’t feel the need to hide their personal views in the article – you can hear the sneer from here! meeedya studies grad by any chance?
Propoganda? It’s a recruiting film!
Oi Fish-heads NO! Get your thieving mits off our aircraft! Go play with your grey boats and leave the flying to professionals (and 3 Sqn) :p
Dodn’t the Americans jump in Grenada?
I often suspect that is why some western countries were a little tardy in their approach to pursuing Nazi war criminals
If so (The Gehlen organisation springs to mind) the same is true of the Soviets, just check-out the fate of ‘useful’ Nazis in the Soviet Union including scientists, intelligence departments and weapons production specialists that were spirited away in 1945 and politically useful proxies in their zone of control were forgiven their past, if it suited Moscow- I believe many of the medium level Nazis that had a sudden conversion to communism were know as ‘red/browns’ – red on the outside, still brown on the inside.
And while we’re on the subject what was the difference between the Hitler Youth and the Young Pioneers in east Germany? The YP wore blue!

Quarters belong to Anning (sp?) I think – Maggy sold them off cheap to her mates
SHQ, SMC, the Guard room, the decontam room by education, the messes, the singlies blocks, 25 yard open air pool (if you remove the greenhouse) the hangars, all 1930s/40s – not sure about ATC and the Jag sim/int def late 1960s/early 1970s
Ohhh and the lovely ‘b’ and ‘c’ class quarters with their cammo finish and air raid shelters……nice
