It’s a booking with Kuoni and you know these agents work. They only have so many seats on a flight, so even if the flight isn’t fully booked, Kuoni cannot have any seats left on earlier flights.
I’m happy with Thai. The service was great and the way in which the crew dressed was wonderful, traditional Thai dresses and the women changed twice or even three times during the flights.
I agree that they’re not the best airline in the world, I’d fly United if it were possible. Thai is a little behind on the times unfortunately. PTVs are not even available in First and Business Class as far as I’m aware.
The aircraft are very clean though and the leg room is great. They offer more leg room than most airlines including Qatar and British Airways in their economy.
I would so far rate Thai Airways 10 out of 10 for their flights. Entertainment was limited outbound, but coming home it was good and films were recent.
Drinks rounds were very frequent. The stewardess even mistook me for asking for a rum and coke when in fact I asked for just a coke!
Their food is better than your average Thai restaurant, too. I treated myself to a Thai lunch the other day and was presented with a scabby metal dish. Inside, it had orange and red grease with lumps of what appeared to be chicken in it.
Hungry passengers on the homeward bound flight could ask the crew for sandwiches. Stashed away in one of the galleys was an entire trolley of bread rolls and sandwiches. Coffees and teas were also available at any hour, by simply requesting it from the crew.
I love the airline and I will continue to use them for trips to Thailand. My parents flew with Qatar last year. She though they were great and says they are better than Thai. I expect they are. If they offered direct flights to Bangkok (where I am actually meant to be going), then I would fly with them. However. they fly via Doha. A few hours wait I could handle, but 18 hours is just not manageable.
