Robert thats not particularly helpful. I am well aware of that situation and it was dealt with the day after that article was published as there had been some mis-understanding over who had been promised the aircraft. The two people involved have been in touch with each other but the whole aircraft never made it back into one spot due to various logistical issues. Please use the PM system for this kind of information as to not cause defamation of anybodies character. Ta.
Time for an update! Well I finally managed to get over to Les’s place and pick-up the Tawney Owl parts. I really must thank my friend Malcolm Taylor and his friend Paul who drove all the way over from Warwickshire just to do the move for me! Also a massive thank you to Les for all his help and generosity in donating the project so that one day with a little bit of luck the aircraft will one day be whole again. Now I have the parts I’m going to be of chasing up some very good leads I have for the fuselage. So here are some photo’s.

The parts loaded into the back of Pauls van.

A rather stupidly grinning DGH shakes hands with Les after the big load up.

The real stars of the show, Paul, Malcolm and Les.
I wonder if the plans for the aircraft survive? And if so how hard it would be to make a new one?
Shame the organisers couldn’t have been more inventive with the list of acts. Okay the Vulcan is U/S but surely they could have found some replacements such as the Sea Vixen, Hunter(s), Hanger 11 and add your favourite aircraft. There is not even a Chinook!
Only on Sunday, but I might still go though if the weather is OK. 🙂
Shirley you must have missed the fact the Air Atlantique’s Rapide G-AIDL has been added to the flying display – what more could you ask for!! 😀
Hello Les, currently confined to bed with a bad case of man-flu, just got out to check web. I will ring tomorrow. Things are in place for the move just need to confirm a date.
I had a good chat today with Les and I have agreed to take on the project and will hopefully be moving it to the St Ives area next week – fingers crossed! Anymore clues as to the whereabouts of the fuselage would be greatly appreciated. 🙂
Les I would certainly be keen to try and get the whole aircraft back together and in one piece either in my ownership or by making the parts available to the owner of the fuselage. I have room for all the bits including the fuselage should it become available. I also have quite a few connections in good places should I take on the whole job. I’m ready and waiting, send me a PM with more details if you wish me to come and collect.
All the best,
Dave Harmsworth (DGH)
Les, if they need a home and you don’t want any cash for them then I can find a home for the parts in Fenstanton, Cambs which isn’t a million miles away from you. I’m sure it would make a good project to try and get the whole thing together again but I’m not the richest bloke in the world!
All the best,
Dave
Thanks for that Darren, didn’t think I was going mad! 🙂
Excuse me if I’ve been totally mislead but didn’t the Vulcan do a flypast at Cambridge on its last test flight?
As promised here are some photo’s from the day supplied by our marshaller for the day Tim “Consul” Badham for whom I am greatly appreciative. These appear here with his kind permission.

I must dash but hope to be back later to add some descriptions. Thanks again to everybody who took the time and effort to come – top stuff. 😎
Thankyou Anthony I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. I decided to change the layout of the fencing as it would give everybody a good look at the Chipmunks and create a defined space for them, this was only really possible though as the Shackleton was not engine running. I certainly plan to you use this layout for future events when were in the same situation with the Shack.
Lastly a big thankyou to all the Chipmunk’iers who took the time and effort to come I really appreciate it. I’ll be posting some piccies later. 😎
P.S – Great pictures Anthony.
