Waddington’s loss is Duxford’s gain as G-AMPY has now taken her Classic Flight passengers to Duxford instead. 🙂
A few pictures of G-AGTM taken today at Halfpenny Green while pleasure flying. Despite the weather forecast a good days flying was had and the only rain we saw was when we turned finals at Coventry on our return. She’s back there tommorow…….:)

And if anybody fancies a trip in her then why not make you’re way over to Halfpenny Green (Wolverhampton Airport) this weekend and savour her delights!! 😀
Gave you a wave Alan but I was just getting back from a hanger tour so no camera I’m afraid. Hope you kept your breakfast on arrival at Kemble. 😉
A change of circumstances means Classic Flight will now be doing 2 trips in the Rapide and Prentice, so no room for me! I may see you Alan if I decided to drive down after booking everybody in. 🙂
Here’s a thought, I’m tired, got a cold and cant sleep so bare with me! 🙂
Is the insurance for the RNHF covered by the crown? If so could not the Sea Vixen be put on loan to the RNHF who could then subcontract the maintenance back to dehavilland Aviation. This would save £90k on insurance. I take it the aircraft owners are willing to pay a certain amount of the yearly costs as this is what private aircraft owners do. That would then leave the remaining shortfall to be funded by a seperate account either with the RNHF or a branch of dehavilland Aviation. This could take the form of sponsors, donations and monthly direct debits from supporters. Is this idea mad?
I can see the first problem being the requirement that the RNHF aircraft need to be piloted by serving airmen but the pilot issue has to resolved anyway.
I’ll dissappear back to bed now.
I don’t know where this rumour started but as far as I know there isn’t (and never was) any substance to it whatsoever.
The rumour started in this thread! DeHavEng stated that was the plan although he later added that the situation had now changed.
Evening Alan. Despite having come down with a mega cold I should be flying in on the second Twin Pinn flight having booked in all our lovely customers. See you Sunday. 🙂
Dont forget the airshow is on Thursday September 13th. 🙂
I see The Atlantique Classic Flight are operating down to the Jersey Air Display, does any one know if they are planning any pleasure flights while they are there.
I was reading last weekend the ones at Blackpool were cut short as the poor old Dak went U/S, a friend of mine was looking forward to his trip with his good lady, he is going to Jersey for the show and that is one of the reasons I am looking at joining him.
A number of years ago they did do about four or five pleasure trips, a friend of mine who was there was on one of them.
In the last Propliner there was an article about pleasure flights of the Normandy Landing beaches does any one know any thing to do with that story.
As I understand it a Rapide is pencilled in for operating pleasure flights during the week of the show. But like anything the situation could change at short notice so watch this space or keep an eye on http://www.classicflight.com
Congrats to NATY and the team – look forward to catching up with this beast sometime during the season. Top Work!
A little bit of her history for you. First Flown 01/11/60, then to 56 Sqn becoming one of the ‘Firebirds’. The arrival of F3’s in 1965 ment a move to 226 OCU at Coltishall. In 1972 she became a Target Facillities Flight machine, first briefly at Leuchars before moving onto Binbrook. Last Flight 31/12/73 when the TFF’s were disbanded. She was then stripped and parked out as a decoy. During 1975 she was one of the aircraft used in camouflage trials at Binbrook before being returned to decoy duty. At the end of 1976 she moved to Bentley Priory and has been there ever since. Would be a shame to lose her after all this time. 🙁
The reason being Classic Flight were only asked to do one flypast! I understand that Brian did a second one later on while he was waiting for a landing slot and having some fun. 🙂
Well things didn’t go quite according to plan! Unfortunately the Dak went u/s this morning which unfortunately brought an end to the fun. Hopefully she’ll be fixed and ready to fly back Monday afternoon. Appologise’s to those people who turned up and were dissappointed. 😮
Don’t forget we will be at Old Warden this Sunday (3rd) offering pleasure flights at the airshow in the Rapide. Hope to meet some of you there.
Anyway here are few pictures for those that are interested in the flight up etc.

Meteor being prepared for a flyby over Coventry.

If I was clever I could tell you what power station this is!

Buzzing the tower!!
