I’m with you Lancman on all this educational stuff – thats just a smoke screen.
Steve, I don’t think the education thing would be effected by painting it in th wrong colours and yes like you I don’t care a monkies what colour they paint it. Lets not open that one again…..
Nuclear White though – that would make a great advertising background!
Ok, I’ve just been thinking ( yeah I know I shouldn’t 🙂 )
As a salesman I’ve got quiet a few years experiance in the world of marketing products and services. When you’re selling or marketing a product in my experiance the two most vitale things are ;
1). The customer must trust you.
2). The customer must have confidence in you.
If you have these it doesn’t matter if you are charging more for the same product as Joe Bloggs down the round people will buy from you as they feel more comfortable. The VTTS campaign has not made any attempt to satisfy these two critera, but it has managed to get two large aerospace companies to come out of there comfort zone and back the project. VTTSCM has on this forum I believe said that there are plenty of industry supporters out there who want to use the aircraft for advertising and sponsorship after wheels off. Could I perhaps be jumping to the wrong conclusion if I was to say that the reason the HLF and some major companies have got behind the project is because a deal has perhaps already been struck with a large organisation to fund the aircraft’s operation after it takes to the sky? And the reason this has not been announced is because perhaps they want to paint it in that compaines colours? The net upshot of this being that if they announce the deal that the aircraft will be funded by a large organisation and flown in there colours the donations would stop overnight?
Just a thought but I think it might explain alot?
Thanks for that Les. Any chance of filling in a few more details of this B2? How radical a redesign was the proposal?
As a kid who lived in Bracknell, I spent the years 77-83 cycling over to Blackbushe whenever I could. I would certainly say that the reputation that Robbelc has described was the one that I always came across when I was there. I never met the chap but he was often to be seen driving around in his Roller. I was very young at the time but myself and my parents used to talk to people there and many seemed to be of the opinion that he was only in it for the money. Were those the days that you could buy and restore an aircraft and sell it on at a profit? Have those days ever existed?
As I say I was very young and I never met him to talk to – so not in a position to make an informed decision, but I thought I’d just add my memories.
People who complain, harass and spread negativity from the comfort of their armchairs – enthusiasts, nimbys, the press etc.
Were can I get some, were can I get some…… :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:
Could add a bit of realism at airshows when tied behind your favourite plane?
Whoever thought of these is a genius – no – god! 😀
Sorry chief, of all the classic jets I must admit that the Valiant is the one I probably know least about, any chance of filling us in on a few more details regarding the B2.
The wings would have fallen of earlier and we would have been up the swanny without a paddle 😮
Nice piccies Mark, thanks.
A Night Fighter Vampire is nice to see – very rare – ex RAF to!
My five pence worth –
When I first came across this forum it took me ages to make my first post mainly because there seemed to be an ‘in’ crowd. I didn’t want to be rejected by them or asked who I thought I was ‘walking in’ on their party. On top of this my spelling and sometimes my English is not the best and every little mistake seemed to be picked up on and people lambasted for. Once I did make my first post I found it’s nowhere near as bad as I thought it might be!
I think the problem lies in the fact that people use this forum for different purposes. Alot of people ( like me ) use it for information and expanding our knowledge base while others use it for socializing as well. I don’t necessarily think thats a bad thing it just annoies the hell out of people who are looking for data relevant to the thread and who have to wade through loads of social talking to get to what they want to know, especially as a couple of people just want to be obnoxious all the time ( although this seems to have calmed down ). I’m glad people on here have become firm friends and I look forward to meeting more of you, certainly the few I have met seem to be really good blokes. There needs to be light hearted banter in every walk of life and this forum is no exception, its just a case of finding a happy medium – and no I dont have the answer. A little tolerance from everyone is I guess all it takes and the exceptance that we are all intitled to an opinon wether it is widely held or not.
My heart felt sympathies to all those people on hear who are experiancing trauma and problems at the moment. I wish you the best of luck.
No problem, unfortunatly I’m at work on Monday otherwise I would have met up with you.
Museum opens at 10.00
Everyone who has helped build the classic jet scene we have today from Hunter One through to Delta Jets, Hawker Hunter Aviation, Air Atlantique, Kennet Aviation etc. Not just the people who started the collections but all the people who give up there spare time to make sure they fly and the people who have worked with the CAA to get them up in the first place.
It’s just a shame that the tenor against those who “dare to dream” is so negative in this country.
Couldn’t agree more mate…. 🙁
But would the money have gone to another project??
It is unlikely that the HLF money would have gone to another aircraft project and I for one would not have donated the money I’ve given to any of the other projects you have mentioned.
