The Bluebird B737 is Mon to Fri eta 0700 and etd 1930 ish day stop sometimes they will put a smaller aircraft when there is a French holiday and operate from and to Koln direct as per yesterday with a D228 or even a Lear Jet has appeared doing the direct freight.
The Atlantic Airlines Electra operates Mon to Fri Newspapers and Mail in and Mail out eta 0530 and etd 1930 ish day stops in Jersey and nitestops Bournemouth on a Sat it goes down to Guernsey with there papers then returns to Bournemouth on Sat morning and stops there till first thing on Mon unless called in to do something over the weekend.
Blueislands do most of the Jersey flights with the Jetstream but durning the week there are a couple of Trislander flight to and from Guernsey and they also operate a six days a week to Beauvais from Jersey which connects with the inter island flights to Guernsey.
There is talk going around that she might be doing some formation flying with the DUKE OF BRABENT B25 at an air show next month, has any one heard of this could be a nice sight?
British Aviation History
Another small piece of British Aviation History about to fall to the scrap man by the look of the poor thing.
It always has to be private enterprise to take on tasks to keep British Aviation still in the public eye where is the British Government in all of this they just do not care about British Aviation History by the look of things
Basically a 50 year old aeroplane still in front line operation that can tell you one or two things?
There is no aircraft at the moment around that can do the task so what do you replace a Canberra with yes another one?
On a differant track what do you replace a Douglas Dakote with well you can,t so at the moment there is still no aeroplane to replace the operations the Canbera was doing in it, last role in the Air Force.
It is certainly differant than your LCC Airbus or B737 flights.
In another words it is a fantastic experience flying in not only a real aeroplane but one that helped make our world whhat and where it is today.
I have had the experience of flying in the Pink Lady a couple of times around our Island and sitting up from in the nose is really something to talk about.
Long live the B17s of this world.
Park and a visit
Parking on the front stands is an art
They use two marshallers one to bring it towards the building then as said a hard wright turn to the other marshaller if they get it wrong and the aircraft is not in the box the aircraft hase to taxi around and do it again.
The airport has certainly grown with the best part of 250 schedules movements a day Monday to Friday with the back tracking it is good to see it operate you might even see the odd go-around as things have not moved on quickly enough.
The RJ100/B146 when it backtracks for take of they move quick and even use the spoilers to slow them down for the turn around for take off.
Withh viewing from the north side being good and able to have a picnic unless this has changed in the last few month City is an interesting place to see how they have to operate.
The models one did see in the old travel agents cost a lot several hundereds of pounds to have a cut out model must be worth more as some of you have said it would be nice to have but only at slightly less asking price.
We must not forget though there was not many built so this puts the price up any way.
Long live the tin lizzy?
Over the years there has been a number of operators doing the Jersey service all be it on a Saturday the last was Aurigny Air Services with there Shorts 360 which has departed the company.
Some other operators before to name but a few.
Intra Airways with there fleet of Dakotas and Viscount 700 25 Years or so ago.
British Midland operated with there Viscount 700s before that.
I am lead to believe these flight were tied in with one of the local travel agents and were mainly weekend summer only.
From what I understand the CAA Inspector was on board the aircraft at the time she had the fire, he was the one with the brown trousers, the flight deck crew were very proffessional on handling the sitation and got the aircraft back on the ground at Coventry where she stayed for a number of years after landing with the engine shut down,
If only the next project to get Concord back in the air?
Moggy C
The Convair 440 is the old Air Atlantique one G-CONV it was bought by a family who runs a garden Nursery up in Scotland if i remember correctly.
The aircraft was shipped up there late last year or early this year and there has been some pictures around of the aircraft waiting to be re assembled.
It has been converted as a holiday accommadation hence the high price per night.
Congratulations to the team to get her back in the air.
The next thing to work on is to have a formation with 9 red hawks?
All the best to finish the project, may be one day you will join the Arrows at one of there displays, they say Jersey is nice in September? at the Jersey International air display week.
EN830
Just to get the record straight, British Airways have not used the Airbus from Gatwick the normal schedules are by the B737 500s at time due tecu or capicity they will have a 300 or 400 not a bus.
The reason they keep the 737 fleet on the Jersey route is they have two crews nightstop as an aircraft stays overnight and to do this they need the two crews nightstopping.
The Jersey-Heathrow routes is not operated by BMI Baby but BMI Mainline with an Airbus 319 or 320 except saturday afternoon and sunday morning flights are done for the EMB145 of BMI Regional on the odd occasion this has been changed to an Airbus.
Classic Flight at the Jersey Air Display
I see The Atlantique Classic Flight are operating down to the Jersey Air Display, does any one know if they are planning any pleasure flights while they are there.
I was reading last weekend the ones at Blackpool were cut short as the poor old Dak went U/S, a friend of mine was looking forward to his trip with his good lady, he is going to Jersey for the show and that is one of the reasons I am looking at joining him.
A number of years ago they did do about four or five pleasure trips, a friend of mine who was there was on one of them.
In the last Propliner there was an article about pleasure flights of the Normandy Landing beaches does any one know any thing to do with that story.
Bye Bye 737 welcome the Bus
Jersey and the Bus
With at least six rotations a day to Jersey there are a number of differant
737s doing the flights, although they are down for the 500s some times the 300 or 400s operate, as the numbers of 737s at Gatwick dwindle so one would expect the odd service to be operated a bus until all the 737s have gone.
