Im sure I read somewhere that the duxford lancaster was almost completely rebuilt with the idea that if PA474 crashed, it would be next in line? 🙂
It’s a shame it’s not running at least to just be a static display the sight of two lancs fly above while this was ground run would set the picture.:D
How much work involved to ground run this without the elf and safety mob getting involved hypothetically of course?
Out of the other lancs in the uk which one if money was available would be prime to be returned to the air?
Ie least cost etc.
You don’t buy a boat and not make it float nor would you buy a car and not drive it, So get her back in the air where she was built for and belongs.:)
Just listened to converation between carrier Charles de Gaulle aircraft control with Malta ATC.
What frequecy is this and any other air to air frequecys HF etc?
Some photos from the bombings (some include dead people – Gadaffi’s soldiers -, so beware).

There is one though which is quite funny:
Those bullets that go up vertical must come down!! Best hide.!! 🙂
Thats a nice story from then a young lad with his best mate his dad.:)
He was shot down by Oblt Brinkhaus.
How do you find out which pilot shot down which plane is there some records to view online.?
Finding unexploded ordanance and defusing them, Now id like to watch another program like this i watched years ago.
Weapons show us the destructive power of these old 50 cal restored working today not a you tube pic.!
Restoring a classic from scratch actually building a under carriage leg not just seeing it working & same for the engines & constructing wings again not seeing them been fit. etc.
May it be your viewing time?
As i work shifts in the afternoon there’s been programs on Discovery on sky & military History i watch before work.
I do agree lots of American repeats but most of sky is repeats so a good shake up required on all channels.
Is that the undercoat when is the pink paint going back on?
[QUOTE=Hurn;1703217]Air Ministry, can’t really help you other than suggest you sent an email to the VttS and ask. If there has been an error perhaps you’ll get your name on the new plaque that’s due to be printed at the end of February.
Ah, that old chestnut. 😉
I always wonder why people suggest grounding it. Yes, like all old aircraft it definitely is a money pit, but it’s one that no-one is forced to donate to unless they want to.
It wants to be out earning money as i think many are fed up paying for it.
Send it to the states for 2 years then to auz and bring it back after it’s earned some cash in the vast lands across the pond.
Or leave it there and swap it for something else.
It’s about time this old thing ended up on e bay it’s just a money pit.
Sorry for the long winded response, Not at all.!!
I do listen down on 11.175 usb, USAF frequency & 11.479 RAF,
Plus 5.6800 is maritime band can be interesting when the helicopters are out playing.
Plenty to listen to there is many more HF frequencys & VHF of course this rig is widebanded rx & tx for the HF & VHF 222mhz band plus 131mhz rx only.
I thought they had in the war AM for voice as my old mate listen in on his fathers homebrew receiver with a long wire in the garden.:D
The footage of the Bentley and the Mercs was the highlight of the show.
🙂
Those VHF sets was the mode in AM or SSB? & Frequency?
And the HF sets what was the frequency in the 0-30mhz band?
I know during the war a old friend was a young boy of about 10 and his father was a radio ham as i am today, the radio gear he still had some and this young boy used to listen to the air battle in the sky above.
