My girls are 9 & 15, but I’m with danohagan that the Crackers were somewhat less than wonderful. The paper crowns were the most exciting part, as the rest were some small Christmas tree decorations. No jokes and no games. Still, the bang was fun.

Hi Oscar,
As I mentioned previously I flew several different planes during my tour.
The new plane that I got in Salina, KS was #393 (last 3 #), we named her Lucky Lady. After calibrating the instruments we left and flew the southern route to Rabat, Morocco where I waited to be assigned to a bomb goup.
I flew 393 a number of times midway through my tour, it was transferred to the 97th BG. I believe that it crashed later.

I remain convinced that the whole business of explaining away the current status of the Hendon Halifax as a thought provoking monument is little more than a convenient excuse that was cooked up as an alternative to spending the money required to restore it to a state where it would be a memorial befitting the sacrifice of the crews that flew Halifaxes during WW2.

I’m not sure the Ventura ever launched torpedoes though.
There was a short air-launched torpedo used by the US Navy. I’ll have a look in my references in the morning and see if it was ever carried by PV-1’s.

I’ll probably buy the book but it’s a shame they didn’t wait to get some pictures of the actual aircraft in flight for the front cover instead of using a picture of Z7015 (Shuttleworth Sea Hurricane).
Why do publishers do this?
