Wish they had saved a Flower Class Corvette in the UK.
A chap I used to know in Southend, (now sadly deceased) served on a Flower Class Corvette during WWII.
I believe he was a marine. He had some stories to tell.

I remember a neighbour of my Father telling me some years ago, that when their F-111s deployed overseas,
they came back well loaded up.
There is apparently a photograph of the RAF pilot who shot the Dornier down.
Nice pictures.
We go most years, but I’d been out all day Saturday, and the heat had got to me.
I couldn’t face another day of walking around in the sun. It’s a shame, as it’s a good show.
Some years ago (1986) I met a Hood sailor who was (lucky) posted dreckly before the ship sailed for Bismark..
That reminds me of when I was working in an empty house in Southend a few years ago.
I had to take the old lino up, and underneath were lots of old newspapers, mostly Daily Heralds.
They were mostly dated around 1939. I picked up one and it had a picture of a sailor home on leave, with his wife
and newborn baby. He was serving on HMS Hood. I saved some of the papers, but not unfortunately that one.

Today is the 70th Anniversary of the bomb being dropped on Nagasaki.
A great result (nearly) for England, but not I fear, a great advert for test cricket.
I hope the last test at least, goes into a fifth day. There must be a lot of unhappy supporters
who have been denied seeing any test cricket in this series. Irrespective of the results.

That’s why I hate this anniversary…every year we get the same arguments from people who clearly know more than the rest of us.
I agree. The same always happens when the subject of Dresden comes up.
Paul Tibbets said the he never lost a moments sleep over dropping the bomb, and given the same circumstances
would have done it again.
Those sentiments were echoed by those who had suffered barbaric cruelty, at the hands of the Japanese.
I want one !
Mig 15 over Duxford on Monday. Didn’t know there was one over here. Got a feeling that there is one based in scandanavia.
Its down to appear at Easrbourne.
I’m reckoning if nothing untoward is widely circulated I’ll upgrade from my current W7 to W10 in September or October.
That should be enough time for any horrendous flaws to have been discovered.
Moggy
I’m thinking along the same lines myself, when I shall also upgrade my computer.
