Apparently Marshalls have said that they have no interest whatsoever in moving to Mildenhall

    At the moment.

On my old Citroen C15, I had to rev it now and again to clear out the soot.
Best done when someone wouldn’t get off my rear bumper 🙂

The Berlingo turbo doesnt have the same problem.

    Two squadrons are reported.

    How many aircraft though ?

Does this also mean that Lakenheath is going to lose a fighter squadron ?
Unless they are going to integrate two of them ?

I wonder how many F-35s they will get ? No doubt half the number of F-15s they now operate.
No F-22s then ?, as I doubt they would operate two different types of aircraft ?

    So many questions 🙂

    Time will tell.

It’s all very well closing these bases, but you never know when there might be a need for them.

Although this has been on the cards for a while now, it’s still sad to hear.
I imagine that Mildenhall will be retained on a care and maintenance basis by the MOD ?
I can’t see them allowing private contractors to use facilities.

Very bad new for the local economy too. Many locals worked on the base, and a lot of USAF personnel lived
    off base, in rented accommodation.

Is there a closure date yet ?

Paris was already a powder keg waiting to blow. I just hope this doesn’t set it off.

As with every other Museum in the UK most ex USAF airframes are on long term loan through the USAFM.

Who probably don’t care what fate awaits them ?

It would I suppose depend on how close to the airfield, the flights are taking place ?
A local noise issue perhaps ?
