The one that was already there was a plastic replica. I remember it when it used to be in the window of the Avirex shop in Oxford street!

Ah thanks, that explains it !

Just out of interest, does “Etta Jeanne” have an engine fitted ?

Popped in today for some quilting supplies a looksee at “Ette Jeanne II” before it is strung up and wandered around AAM – tried to imagine where they could stick it, so here is my mockup!

If “Etta Jeanne” is going to be wired to the roof, what’s happened to the P-51 that was already in the AAM ?
Or am I missing the obvious somewhere ?

It certainly looks much better than it did when wearing its super-shiny 1980s Big Beautiful Doll colours

Just found this one I took in 2009.

    A “Before” picture

Anyone have an up to date picture of the F-15 paint job ?

Here’s one I took in July.

I wonder if the information panels infront of aircraft exhibits at Hendon have ever been changed since my visit about 30 years ago.

An example. I make no apologies for the quality 🙂

I wonder how many more Gnats they have in the pipeline ?

If they got another five, and painted them all red 🙂

Stand by for three days of Quilt Show puns.

    I think we need a new thread…

Looks like a polling station 🙂

They were saying on the news this evening, that to keep “Etta Jeanne” as authentic as possible, the paintwork has
been brush applied, as it would have been originally.

Surely, the ‘gold standard’ for museums has to be the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden ?

For many reasons, I’m not a museum enthusiast. I visit the Shuttleworth regularly and Duxford occasionally. .

It’s always got to be an advantage to look at aircraft which still fly, and which you can see being worked on.
It brings the hangars to life.

They had a lot of second hand books when we were there a couple of Sundays ago.
I had a quick look through them.

1: for private reasons would be a good bet.
2: not that I am aware of.

Not wishing to labour the point, but ….
Whilst appreciating the owner of the aircraft is perfectly entitled to be as secretive as they desire,
I can’t quite see the point.
Unless it is to not spoil the surprise when the finished article is finally unveiled, with a two page spread in a
    glossy magazine. 🙂

As regards it being a single seater, I didn’t even realize there were any single seater Gnats.

[I] We are mere enthusiasts – we’re not the target audience, therefore we don’t matter. That’s the sad reality of museums these days 🙁

The sad truth indeed. She doesn’t have to answer to the likes of us, but to her paymasters.

I doubt visitors will be asked to fill in questionnaires ?

I hope she has at least visited other aviation museums, to see how they are run.

    Obviously, but why ?

Is it a state secret ?
