Is your objection the extra penny or the suggestion to give it to Children-in-Need?

I don’t give anything where the BBC is involved. I object to celebrities with six figure salaries, (paid by us), telling us to dig deep.

During the course of the year I attend about 20 meetings and dinners where an awful lot is raised by ordinary people for charity.
My wife is always sending off cheques to Scope. So between the two of us we donate a lot.

A penny extra tax on petrol / diesel would raise over £350million per year…

…how many motorists would object to that going to Children-in-Need?

I would, and so I suspect would countless charities in this country, who are desperate for funds.

I felt proud to be a Brit yesterday, when I found out this Government had donated £16.000.000, a small little Island with a big heart, compare that to the size of America who donated £11.000.000. sort of puts things into perspective, don’t it?.

Have never watched it,

I find it reassuring that in over ten years of conflict in Afghanistan, involving tens of thousands of British troops, that the subject of this thread is the only incident that I know of where the charge of ‘murder’ has been levelled at a British soldier.

Not to say that similar incidents haven’t happened. We shall no doubt have to wait until books are written about the conflict, to find out what really went on in Afghanistan.

Yes I can remember that the first time around. It must be difficult for youngsters to imagine that we once had a great RAF.
