The Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode was very good and I suspect its success is quite embarrassing to the anti-BBC brigade. :highly_amused:

My favourite episodes over the last few years have to be “Girl in the fireplace” and “click” both brilliant IMO.

The subject of Dr Who Hype came up on Newswatch. As I’ts been on every news bulletin, and chat show for the last couple of weeks.
I always watch the programmes, but am often left wondering what I have seen. Some of the stories are so complicated.

Yes indeed – well publicised here yesterday. As a great fan of Python I am wary of all reunions. They rarely live up to expectations and often never as good as the originals……..

I agree, not all comedy ages well. Even at the time, some of the Python sketches were over long, and not that funny.
Loved the films though.
I used to love Fawlty Towers, but watching some of the re-runs makes me cringe in embarrassment.

Thirdly that penny on fuel duty would not be hypothecated so you wouldn’t know how it was being spent, as some of us have argued above.

As well as costing more to collect, than any charity ever got to see.

I don’t give anything where the BBC is involved. I object to celebrities with six figure salaries, (paid by us), telling us to dig deep.

During the course of the year I attend about 20 meetings and dinners where an awful lot is raised by ordinary people for charity.
My wife is always sending off cheques to Scope. So between the two of us we donate a lot.
