A figure was quoted on the radio yesterday, that said a horse has a one in twenty chance of being killed at the National.

This would seem to be acceptable odds for those taking part.

Some years ago, we used to hear the good old Air Atlantique DC6 most week nights, alas no more. .

Going back a few years, I think that flew out of Southend a few times, on early morning flights. The noise it used to make, I thought it was coming through the bungalow, rather then flying over.

A horse dies. Well sad, no doubt, but a lot sadder if it had been the jockey.

It would give the race an extra something, if a jockey was shot when they broke a leg.

I can’t see a problem. You pay excess baggage , why not a lard tax ?

When I went for a flight at Stapleford in 2011, there was a 15st weight limit.

Don’t forget another possible villain, in this, and it’s the solicitor who’s undertaking to represent her, probably with the “No win, no fee” carrot dangled in front of her. If the garage decides it’s cheaper to settle out of court, he/she will have a nice fat fee for doing virtually nothing.

I imagine her union will be funding the action, so she has nothing to lose.

Maybe she doesn’t really like her job, and is looking for a way out ?

    A talented actor.

More recently known for incidents while on the stage:

During a performance of The History Boys, Griffiths became so annoyed at a man in the audience whose mobile phone rang repeatedly through the play that Griffiths stopped acting after the sixth time and ordered the man out of the theatre. More recently, Griffiths asked a member of the audience to leave a performance of Heroes after her phone rang three times. This interruption of a performance due to audience distraction has happened no fewer than three times in his career.

Depends how much detail you are after.

I bought “Zeppelins over Southend”, written by Ken Crowe from Southend museum.
Not a big book, but very interesting from a local point of view.

I wonder who has that sort of money to spend, given the present economic climate ?
I hope it finds a good home.
