I’ve the greatest respect for Nigel Farage, he hasn’t given up on his anti-EU fight.
You can bet your life though, that if come the next election (if not before) the other parties are frightened of
losing votes to UKIP, there will be a “dirty tricks” campaign to try and discredit him.

As an aside, I reckon that if the Labour party had ousted Brown before the last election, they would
still be in power. You’ll never hear any labour MP suggest that though.

I was working close to Southend Airport when a Spitfire, B-25 camera ship, and He-III flew in.
I seem to remember the Spitfire firing his guns off while taxiing ?

It’s not just the big chains which are suffering. We have lots of empty shops in
my nearest High Street in Rayleigh. Now and again I see a new shop opening up, and instinctively know, they aren’t going to last long. Those selling baby clothes are a prime example, few lasting more than a year. Possibly as they only take out a 12 month lease. A shop opened last year, selling computer bits and pieces, that has now gone, replaced by a chap selling second hand phones and accessories. I don’t expect him to be there for very long.

We have lots of places to eat and drink, charity shops, shops selling cheap clothes, banks , building societies, and a couple of discount shops. It seems to be the norm for most towns now.

Nothing is forever. I grew up thinking Woolworths were always going to be there.

Which big name is going to be next I wonder ?

W H Smith never seem to be that busy, on the odd occasion I’ve been into one of their shops.

Mmmmm…. always that element of doubt

Until the RAF stopped using the airport, that’s where I used to go to see most of the aircraft taking part.
It’s only the last two or three years that I’ve gone to the seafront. I had no problems parking a 10 minute
walk from the sea front. Then watched most of the flying from the Cliffs Pavillion.

We may try to get down to Eastbourne this year, and make a weekend of it.

A great shame as a lot of organizations rely on the airshow for fund raising.

The flying programme had been going downhill for a number of years, but it was still a good day out, if the weather was good.

I think the council have wanted to do this for a long time, as they have to pay overtime to a lot of council and security staff.
