Maybe the way they have been ejected ?

The pattern of the breaks are too regular.

It would be interesting to have seen the shell cases from the gun they fired in Ireland.

Not from a crash site as far as I am aware. A couple are dated 1942 and one
1944. Both have been centre pin fired.
As far as I recall they were found in the Felsted area of Essex. Also found
one or two heads as well. AP I believe with the black tip ?
As well as one or two 20mm cases.

Not sure about the breaks being due to corrosion though. They all seem to have broken in
the same place, and with a similar pattern.

I do have a very nice fired .303 case (1939 dated) picked up in the street at Heathfield, East Sussex, during the Battle of Britain – I think after a combat on 18 August 1940.

I’d be interested to know what your looks like.

These are some I’ve picked up, mostly around Essex. I’ve assumed they’ve come from aircraft, as they all seem to have broken in a similar fashion.
Not what you would expect from a rifle. Or not and .303 rifle I’ve ever fired. The two that I can read are dated 1942

As Esther Rantzen says, “The jury is no longer out”. Even if you discount the many other allegations.

Like, they mustn’t fly them ? 🙂

I know they are very experienced pilots, but it still worries me when I see
aircraft such as these flying so close to each other.
