    RIP Mr Lewis.

As far as his comedy was concerned, I didn’t find him at all funny, and that voice …….

Moving on 12months from the last post

I just managed to get to Southend in time to catch PS915 PR Mk. XIX taking off, presumably for Herne Bay ?
It returned a little while later and did a couple of low passes for the benefit of those attending the Vulcan open day (XL426)

Not a great fan of his, but RIP all the same.

My earliest recollection of him was when he hosted Sunday Night at the London Paladium. Must have been the 60’s

That’s the problem with films aimed primarily at British audiences.

Was any filming done at Duxford ?

Hurricane and Spitfire (Heritage flight) just running into Herne bay from Biggin Hill.

Probably a good weekend to be at North Weald ?

I hope crosswinds at Southend aren’t an issue.

I haven’t been around today, but apparently one of the BBMF Spitfires flew into Southend today, and is departing Sunday afternoon.
    Displaying somewhere Saturday and Sunday.

Looks like a trip to Southend may not be needed after all 🙁

I’m hoping that a new scheme brings along technologies such as on-line subscription, payment, booking etc. with it to address some of the difficulties mentioned on this thread.

We always pay for our yearly pass online, except this year when it was due to expire the day after we were there.

I’m surprised that SL721 was fitted with a Merlin, I thought that by 1945 it would have had a Griffon ?

As regards the issue with chatham Dockyard, and it may have a bearing on the IWM and other sites (?). I think it’s tied in with
Gift Aid payments. If you have a gift aid option on entrance fees, you have to offer the public something in return.
Free entrance for a year etc . I’m sure that’s how it works ?

If it affects all merlins at the BBMF, how about Merlins elsewhere ?

I did enquire on their FB, but didn’t have much luck 🙁
I wouldn’t mind going to Clacton. We’ve only been once, and that was to see the Vulcan display.
Getting there and parking was no problem, getting away afterwards was though. It’s a good venue for
photography, much better than Eastbourne seafront.
