I just remembered another thing which irritates me.

People referring to Maths as Math. ie. “Do the Math”. Is this an American thing ?, if so it’s catching on over here. 😡

…….Parents who either let children stand in shopping trolleys ……………………………………………

I know. We went shopping in Sainsburys yesterday, and timed it wrong.
Just after school knocking off time, so the screaming brats were on the
    rampage. :diablo:

I must have counted at least 5 instances of children standing in trolleys.
It’s amazing that the staff don’t say anything.

This is despite warnings at the store entrance, and on the trolleys.

    Thanks for that Andy.
Are you certain that the first one went down in the sea ?
The article seems to suggest that it went down over Chivelstone, which is a
    little way from the coast.

Reason for asking, is that a chap on a metal detecting forum was finding
molten metal in a field (I assume) and seemed to think it was from an
    FW-190.

I shall enquire further as to where he found the metal. Just in case it was from the beach.

……………I doubt any body will risk operating the F-35 on such a scenario……………

That I think is one of the Key issues. Nobody is going to risk using such an expensive aircraft in a situation where somebody
    might actually shoot at it.
Especially if there are so few of them available.

I was also there when they recovered the crew of a damaged freighter between Ireland and Iceland. They refuelled from a HC-130 to get the range. I don’t think any other SAR organization could have saved them that far out to sea.

    I remember that happening

No, that was Graham Haynes the museums chairman. There are three Grahams at the museum and it gets very confusing sometimes !!

    Thanks 😉

Was it ever a viable proposition ?

Even if it were, and they overcame the design problems, it would surely have
a dramatic affect on the aircraft’s range.
