It’s too easy to tell someone who you are never likely to meet, that they
shouldn’t be lazy and search for the info they want.

Rather than perhaps put a link up and say, “this might be
what you are after”.

Then as I mentioned elsewhere : When there is an aircraft accident or
incident, everyone telling us what we should or shouldn’t be saying or
thinking doesn’t help matters.
That should be left to forum moderators, not all and sundry trying to earn
some brownie points.

Even if it upsets the forum pecking order.

Perhaps some more thought before posting smart alec replies
will entice more people onto this forum! Not everyone knows their way around the tintanet!

This certainly seems to be the case on this forum, more so than any of the
other numerous forums I belong to. Not every aircraft enthusiast is a
“geek” or “swivel” 😉

Getting back to the subject matter. Many of us can feel privileged to have
attended airshows where the Lightning was the star attraction.
I remember being at Wethersfield, and a US airman telling us to wait until
we saw the F-100 display, something not to be missed he said.

Then asking him if he’d ever seen a Lightning display. 🙂

Can anybody pinpoint the ship on Google maps? 🙂

There are a lot of aviation experts on this forum, therefore, when there is an accident involving an aeroplane, the problem will be the press, members of the public, the CAA, AAIB, etc all hanging on the forums every word.(according to some)

In practice, who knows ?

In the event of a member of my family being killed or injured in an
accident, (of any type) the last place I would go for info would be an
Internet forum.

Then again, I can only speak for myself.

It’s not speculation though is it Alan? Captain Schettino has admitted that he was too close to the shore, that he made the turn from shore too late and that he ‘messed up’ the subsequent evacuation.

Personally I have no problem with that. As long as when the inevitable
aviation accidents occur this year (as unfortunately they surely will), the same
rules can be applied when making comments. We can’t have double
standards can we ? 😉

As I asked earlier.

Are we now going to be able to make similar comments, and speculate on the causes
of aircraft accidents, without incurring the usual wrath of the forum thought police ?

I was just thinking to myself.

If this had been an aircraft accident, the forum thought police would have
been telling us how distasteful these comments are, and how we shouldn’t
speculate as to the causes.

It’s a funny old world. 😉
