Anyone for a Carvair? I wish, Essex’s contribution to British aviation history;)

My brother-in-law has some pictures of Carvairs, when they were being
built/converted. I keep trying to get my sister to scan them, without any luck 😡

With passengers the largest aircraft will the 757 on the extended runway, and suitable stand sizes are in place to accommodate such aircraft. Without passengers for maintenance or scrapping larger things will be unlikely although perhaps possible.
A Tristrar of Aer Turas EI-COL landed on the current runway in 1998!

What was the big Russian transport that was in Southend for some time ?,
quite a few years a go now.

Some just like a secret, it gives a feeling of self importance. 😉

There’s somebody I used to know, where “everything” was a secret.
Even when he told me about the most mundane piece of news, I had to
promise not to tell anyone. Even if it was already in the public domain.

I too was a number cruncher at one time but always had an interest in the aircraft rather than just the registration.

I remember standing on the old observation terrace when I was a teenager. 🙂

At least Southend has at least one “Spotter friendly” chap in ATC.
He’ll tip the “swivels” off about aircraft arrivals, as well as sometimes asking
any military aircraft flying over the airport to give their full registration, rather
than just call sign.

There are some pretty dire war films on the free to view film channels on Sky.
Mostly featuring Italians playing English, Germans and Americans.

If they are willing to accept shared accommodation, showers ect, then it shouldn’t be a problem. Doing physical things with other crew members is not permitted on subs or ships anyway, so I don’t see how it would be different with women on-board.

I think it would be a lot different. Looking into my crystal ball, I see a rash of
industrial tribunals in the future.
