Ah yes. There used to be some interesting aircraft in the hangars at Marshalls.
Mostly ex-RAF aircraft on their way out to middle eastern countries. The
Strikemasters for instance.

As well as the Ambassadors, flying race horses in.

I remember a Lloyd aviation (?) DC-7 landing on three engines, which had just flown from South Africa. One of the engineers saying it usually comes in on three. He said, last week it came in with all four running, and went off the end of the runway. 🙂

I doubt they will capture the spirit of the story in the same way that The Tuskegee Airmen did.
My gripe with most American made war films is, the servicemen taking part spend most of their time fighting each other, rather than the enemy. With too much shouting and screaming at each other.

CGI is good when it’s done well, but as others have said, from what I’ve seen in the trailer, the P-51s look as if they are straight out of Star Wars. Performing impossible manoeuvres, and all looking in pristine condition.
I’m sure aircraft didn’t always explode in a ball of flame after taking a couple of hits either.
Perhaps it would look more realistic if they slowed the film down a touch ? 🙂

I suppose that if they had managed to get a lot of real P51s in the film, there would be pages of comments about them being the wrong marks etc.

Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has warned teams it would be ‘suicidal’ for them if the sport moved to News Corporation’s pay-per-view channels as part of a takeover deal.

Amid signs of intense resistance from Ecclestone about the possibility of News Corporation buying into F1, the sport’s commercial rights holder says teams would lose huge sponsorship interest if coverage was no longer on mass market channels.

“Murdoch hasn’t got anything really big to drive their TV audiences and Formula 1 would be good for that,” he explained in an interview with the official Formula 1 website. “They have been trying to buy the TV rights from us for a long time, but we won’t because they are not free-to-air television broadcasters. They are a subscription service.

“Very recently they wanted to do something in Germany, in the UK and in Italy, where they are, but we couldn’t do it. Sky is doing an incredible job but if you look at their audience they are nowhere. With these figures it would be almost impossible for teams to find sponsors. That would be suicidal.”

It’s certainly a talent, although nowadays machinery helps a lot

Being able to watch F1 on at least three channels(RTL-Nl/RTL-D and BBC 1) I was delighted that I could watch a race without adverts on BBC1. Add Fast Eddie Jordan/Martin Brundle’s grid walk and I am a happy bunny. As we cannot get a Sky subscription in Holland(no dishes allowed on our appartment block) and I’m back to adverts just as the excitement begins. ******!!

Back in the days of analogue satellite, I often used to watch the F1
coverage on one of the German channels. Is it still free to air or encrypted ?

It doesn’t really worry me too much, as I expect the BBC will still show
highlights in the evening ? I usually record the F1 coverage anyway. Watch
the start and the first few laps, then watch it at 12x playback unless
anything interesting happens.

It’s a shame that the BBC no longer broadcast sport unless there is money
to be made from advertising. Those of us who can remember their sports
coverage on a Saturday afternoon back in the 60s and 70′, will recall the diversity
of sports shown, without an advertising banner in sight.

Has anyone mentioned the Martin Baker Meteor, in an episode of the Prisoner ?
