Thank goodness events like this are relatively rare nowadays.

Thanks very much for that info Simon. It’s easy to forget how many service personel lost their lives in accidents, and still do.
I wonder if the non-standard headstone is a replacement made locally, copying an earlier one ?

I was in a different part of the cemetery today, trying to get some wildlife shots. The grass in the cemetery was getting a bit long,
except for where there were some military headstones…..

I’d love to know if anyone can come up with the story of these three servicemen.

While photographing these headstones, I felt I was being watched

Sad to see the aircraft in their present state. 🙁

Great set of photos. They did a quick paint job on the Rafale from where we saw it on Friday.
Then again, perhaps they had two here 🙂

”Not a fire truck in sight here.” Purely a reference to the vid in my post. Nothing else.

That was the impression I got from watching the video, with the two fire trucks taking some time to get to the aircraft.
Thank goodness there was no fire. (This is purely an observation and not a criticism.)

I would like to speculate that the canopy will be damaged beyond repair, even if it landed on the grass.
    Pure speculation of course.

I didn’t even realize there was a museum at Bradwell. Does the Jaguar come from Bentwaters ?

Taking a look on Friday, a test flight looks some way off.

T’was a warm day at Duxford. Unfortunately we had to leave just before 5pm so only just caught the arrival of the Mig, and the Comet formation.
The camera had been put away by then 🙁 Nice to see the Rafale, a first for me I believe. Interesting to see how the WWI formation coped with
the strong crosswind, by landing at approx 90 deg to the runway 🙂

    Sorry for the duplication

When “Isn’t” there a strong crosswind at Duxford ?

Nice set of pictures Martin, and well done to Kevin for handling ATC duties again.
We paid a visit on Wednesday, and were impressed at the progress they have made at the airfield.
What used to be the car workshops of Russell Savory, is now the entrance, shop and museum. I must say the museum is very well laid out.
The airfield is very quiet and peaceful, but we were lucky to get into the cafe when we did, as it was about to be invaded by 100 women
from the WI, who had a special event laid on.
My only disappointment was not being able to walk around the wildlife area. This was due to ongoing construction work, and a film crew
doing some photography, or so I was told. Although we did manage to catch a glimpse of a water vole in the pond next to the shop.
