One of the complaints I’ve seen, is although the event was fully booked late Saturday night, there was nothing at the gate to say this.
For those who don’t know the site, it is reached by a long single track concrete road. So it must have caused problems with people trying
to get in, attempting to get past those being turned away.
With regards to local residents complaining, there really aren’t that many properties close by that I am aware of, apart from a couple of farms.
The types of planes flying there are mostly pretty quiet, and perform within the airfield boundaries.

    Anyone get any pictures ?

Such a shame, he gave so many the chance to realise their dream.

A good job we decided against going. Do you know if they have improved the parking surface in the last three years.
The field wasn’t too bad, although the grass was long. The other area on the left as you drive in, quickly turned to mud.
We were lucky to get out before it got too bad.

TBH I can’t see why our air force and FAA can’t do a small number of “open house” days as they used to do back in the 50/60s ….no entry charges , and most of the ” infrastructure” provided ” in house”.

Ah yes, the days of getting into Bentwaters for 2/-, and that included a flying programme.:) The only airshows I’ve been to in recent years, were at Clacton and Eastbourne, to see the Lancasters and Vulcan.
We now only do the Friday’s of Duxford airshows. Ok you don’t see all of the flying displays, but it’s enough to keep us entertained. The RAF don’t have enough personnel to run their own events. Even in years gone by
they were run by outside organizers.

As others have said, it guarantees that the organisers will be able to cover their expenses in the event of bad weather.

I still have a couple of metal detectors, but stopped detecting last year. I’ve never actively gone out looking
for aviation related items. One of the first items I found was the fuse head from a WWI AA shell dated 1916.
Lots of .303 and 20mm shell cases, mostly from a site my club had close to Andrewsfield. Lots of shrapnel too.

Ah, I wondered what it was, I only caught a brief glimpse as it flew directly over head me at Rayleigh Weir. Heading South

I watched “Target for Tonight” on YouTube yesterday.

The first time I’ve watched it. Those cut glass accents are amazing.

I must have a look at the USAAF version, “Target for Today”.

I quite like him, the one I can’t stand on LBC is O’Brian, as soon as he comes on, it’s over to BBC Essex

Rather a shame, especially on a long thread.

Surely a more appropriate question would be “Could the EE Lightning…” given that none fly.

What’s the latest on “BBD” ? I believe the last time it flew was 2014 (?)

But all too often these days it’s a two-seater.

    Moggy

Yes that is the downside 🙁
