I have a mint condition set of Auster MK 6 skis if anyone is interested
now that England has more snow than much of Canada:)
I’m still interested fleet, if the price were right…
Any chance of some photos when you get a minute…
oh well, look at the bright side… It will be up for disposal again in 10 years time, and they might actually advertise it this time!
Maybe the Indian’s can fly a couple over for Waddington airshow and leave them here!
Sorry… I’ll get my coat!
Hello Paul & Twinotter.
Next time I’m at Wickenby I will show you a copy of the combat reports. They are very interesting to read!
TwinOtter. Two things. First, the book isn’t that valuable in terms of it’s monetary value (I see that one sold on a well known auction site last week from about £10)…… However, the information inside is invaluable!!! Having said that, its not 100% correct. None of the spitfires were shot down, despite the eye witness report!
I would still really like to hear from anyone concerning colours / markings of the JU88’s
I had no idea it was such a mess inside. Thats a shame to see.
It is a real shame what has happened to this aircraft, however just to balance things up, I think there’s a fair few Egyptian artefacts sat in the British Museum that they would quite like back!!
Chippie, Check your PM’s! 🙂
Great, well done. Someone called it a hanger not a hangar. Make him feel good about it why don’t you….
There’s a chance to go and save something historic but instead the spelling police step in…
Pathetic.
Same old, same old. If you really haven’t got it by now, then you probably never will!
Thanks for the heads up Jack.
You have just quoted an isolated statistic that tells us nothing except that 651 died at work in 1974. Fear we may be drifting some way off the original topic.
You’re absolutely right. My apologies. I hit post without reading that through.
Anyway, the point is that before the 1974 legislation, hundreds of people lost their lives every year at work in the UK… Compare that with 2014-15 when 92 people died at work, and I think its clear to see that its not H&S gone mad. Its just about making sure that people get home to their loved ones at the end of a days work.
And I don’t think its thread drift. Its a major factor in the high cost of restoring this ‘aircraft’ (replica).
How on earth did we survive before H&S?? Just adds unnecessary costs to what should be a simple inexpensive job……..
Thats easy to answer… In 1974, the year that the health and safety at work act came in to being, 651 people died whist at work trying to earn a living so that they could put bread and butter on their plate. Thats not propaganda…. thats fact.
Its already here! Its been in the UK for some time now.
Warhawk… The spares ship is here at Scampton, but the flyer is yet to arrive.
Depends on the engineering support -no support from RR and Marshalls etc and the permit is meaningless.
Absolutely… I was under the impression that the engineering support was to be withdrawn at the end of this flying season. To me with 8 months to go before the permit expires, I wonder when the season expires? Of course if the support runs out on a set date, then its irrelevant, but its when the current permit expires, then there is still the potential for a lot of flying to be done!
Given that 558’s permit doesn’t expire until May 2016, I’m surprised that they aren’t planning a FINAL spring time airshow next year.
Unfortunately that wasn’t the case on Saturday. However, I was pleased to see a Hurricane (and two spitfires!) in the static!
Why do people see it as a ‘waste’ to have a hurricane in static when there are already 5 flying? Surely 5 in the air and 1 on the ground that people can see up close it better than 6 in the air that people can only see from a distance? Each to their own I guess but I thought it was great to see the Hurricane and Spitfire together in the static.
