Mexican 727 🙂
A limosine company based in Mexico has come up with what it thinks is the ultimate luxury car – a converted Boeing 727 passenger plane.
The company has taken the wings off the Boeing and turned it into a big deisel-powered car, capable of whizzing 50 people along the highway, at up to 200 kilometres an hour.
From next month, anyone with a spare $1,500 will be able to book a three hour trip in the converted 727, taking advantage of its dance club, bar and lounge – and hope it does not hit any pot-holes.
Sixty people worked on the plane’s transformation for three months.
The six-tonne plane is 18 metres long and 3.9 metres high. It has a six-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine in the back and air brakes and suspension.
The interior is decked with neon strobe lights and audio and video systems.
Passengers can boogie on a dance floor, make a pit stop at a bar or retire to a “romantic” space in the back of the aircraft-turned-luxury-automobile.

sydney camm
thankyou all for the most interesting responses ,there are valid points for both men and their respective aircraft, most grateful for the comments,
Very bad taste in my opinion, today is not the day to debate this.
its a perfectly fair question thats probably been asked elsewhere today and by more qualified people, get real:cool: 😎
You have over looked a few points hav’nt you.
Firstly, the Spit was the most aesthetic single engined fighter ever designed &
secondly the Spit lived longer than any of the above & to my knowledge gave more service than any single Hawker type. But this argument will last even longer than the Spitfire. Q.E.D.
Cheers TASSE.
had rj mitchell not passed away before the spitfire gained famethe myth would not have followed the aircraft ,primarily more hurricanes flew in the battle of britain than spits, hurricanes were much more robust and could be serviced in field as opposed to the spit which needed hanger space, take away the epelleptic wing and both aircraft are very similar in profile, the hurricane solid and powerful in presentation ,whereas the spitfire has a ladylike quality not suited to warfare:cool: 😎 😎
I have read this thread with interest and it formed a basis for my once yearly visit to Hendon, so yesterday I trudged down the A1 and took my time with the Halifax to get some good shots of her.
terrific photos, they serve to highlight the absurdity of her condition laid bare, engines in boxes ,restored turret sat in the nose, giving the impression someones started restoration then run out of steam or in this case inclination:cool: 😎 😎
Moggy removed all the reposted pictures, there is no point in having a huge photo posting repeated on the same page of the same thread. Buck up chaps.
ferrari maclaren
I sense a bit of dislike for Ferrari;) , never mind I’m not there biggest fans either. I will say this though I think it was a bit unfair to put Mcclaren to 0 in the constructors Championship as it was proven that the dossier the Mclaren mechanic had was never used to implement improvements to the Mcclaren car. Its a bit like soccer and rugby teams watching previous matches to get an insight into their upcoming competitors. (kind of) I said.
as i understand alec stepney held the documents therefore he alone should have been dealt with by the FIA as should Alonso, leaving Maclaren alone ,clearly some members of the FIA dont enjoy Maclarens success, i agree its most unfair to take away the constructors points, fairer to remove Alonsos, he should have known better, formula one is rapidly turning into a very expensive soap opera and forgetting what motor racing is about, 😎

most boring aircraft
has to be a powered hang glider ok its not a conventional aircraft but they all look the same sort of flying triangle Shez Pete seagers song “little boxes” i appreciate that lots of people love them .its jusy a personal opinion:D 😀 😀
I worked for Freddie Laker with Aviation Traders out of Stanstead and Southend in 1959 & 1960.
We had 2 Brittanias, Some Tudors, and DC4s. We also flew Bristol Freighters out of Southend. I remember the carvair but have no pictures. I’m pretty certain it was a DC4 conversion by raising the flight deck to extend the car deck underneath.Paddy R
thank you for the info i can imagine you have some interesting stories to tell,i mistakenly thought hed started with Halifaxes ie Haltons,id a lot of time for freddie laker,. british Airways didnt:cool: 😎 😎
