I believe the Lanc you have is Del Palmer’s Fs2002 Pro jobbie that has to have a “patch” to enable it to work for Fs2004.

There are 2 or 3 patches about for it,but one of ’em won’t let you take off, this sounds like the patch you’ve got.

If you don’t mind paying then the “PlaneDesign” job is the absolute best there is at the moment, though SimShed have one “in the works” which will be a freebie.

Sorry Miggers, Yakriders got it spot on, gold star for that man well done!!!

    I must admit cuz,I didn’t know she’d served with 332.

I knew she was one of Johhny Houlton’s “fleet” of a/c’s he’d flown, hence the OU*V(485 Sqn RNZAF) codes.

There was a chap that did two very interesting models of her a few years ago, based on the Occidental kit I think.

One was of her in her wartime “guise” as Johhny Houlton’s personal mount,t’other was as she is now(Aeroclub or Brigade’s Mk9 2 pew fuselage conversion) as The Grace Spitfire.

According to this website http://www.blackburn-buccaneer.co.uk/Buccaneer_Index.html? , XK486 to 491 were the 6 prototypes and XK523 to 536 were the 14 pre-production aircaft. The first full production aircraft was serialled XN922.

    Hope this helps,

    FC

He’s absolutely spot on you know.XK532 is the 9th pre-prod batch aircraft.

What a beauty,a genuine wire twanging Bucc.

I thought it was one of Johnny Houlton’s mounts, hence OU*V.

Spadegrip or Mark, would you care to enlighten us?

I remember being at Cosford and just being able to see a dark blue cowling, white/blue spinner attached to a five blade Rotol prop and a cockpit hood over the ‘yeds of the crowd.
A tall blonde haired fellow climbed up onto the wing and into the cockpit.
It was Mark in that Dutch Navy Seafury.

There was a right crowd of bodies pressing to the fence right behind it.
When the Centaurus fired Mark “gave it a bit”and sent hats, deckchairs, flasks, butties, kids, cats, dogs and whatever else was loose flying in the breeze, in a cloud of exhaust fumes and dust.

Needless to say those of us who saw this happen laffed our socks off.:D 😀

He then taxied out, waved to his audience as he did so,took off and gave a stonking display, landed and taxied back in again.

When he left to go home after the display,he revved up and checked the mags at the end of 06.He had the hedge wobbling in the breeze then.

    Good lad Mark.
Many thanks to you and your Dad for all the good times.
May you thrill your Heavenly audience and fans for ever.

    Strewth!!!!

You don’t have these problems on FlightSim:rolleyes:  .

Seriously though,I’m itching to see her coming down Cosford’s display line again.
We saw her a few times during that last hectic season all those years ago and she was fantastic.
Just a few slow passes will be superb, never mind those spirited displays she used to give back in her Service days.

I’m going with cousin spadegrip and my pal, an ex-RAF type,Tug Wilson.

I’ll be the one running the 1/16th scale Mk1 Tiger Tank in the grass car park at lunchtime and my Moonstone blue Peugeot 306 will be more than likely be parked next to spadegrip’s Renault Scenic so come and say hello.

Cousin spadegrip’s right,if it’s owt like last year it’ll be a corking day.
Even the weather’s said to be looking good for us.

The yellow normally used and indeed listed in current UK Mil colours (BS381c)
    is No 356 Golden Yellow.

We use it at work for safety rails, machine guards etc and it’s known throughout the works as “Rescue Helicopter Yellow”:D .

If it’s a 1k finish needed we buy it from Firwood Paints or if it’s a 2k finish needed we get it from Leigh’s Paints. Both firms are in Bolton, lancashire and have websites.

Both finishes give excellent results if sprayed on(by me),but if it’s a brush/roller finish you’re after, then the 1k finish can be applied by hand.

    I too heard this news.

    It was reported that:

“Police in Lanarkshire believe that former World Rally Champion,Colin McRae was onboard a helicopter which had crashed near the McRae family home in Lanark at around 4pm,local time.

The Squirrel helicopter exploded on impact. There were no survivors.

Formal identification will not take place until tomorrow”

It is well known that Colin has a pilot’s licence and flies a Squirrel and Colin’s website(see post above for link)is unavailable at the moment.

While our thoughts are with the families of all pilots and crews killed in today’s accidents, let us hope that it isn’t Colin’s aircraft.

Looking at your pics FB(My Mrs loves your floor BTW:D ),would it not be possible to find an engineering drawing of or even dimension the round bracket and get a friendly machine shop to turn one up for you?

Surely one of the fellows on here knows of such a place?

What a fantastic thread Steve and many thanks for starting it.

The only TSR I worked on is my Resitech model, but it is one of my alltime favorites.

I ,like many others, have gazed at XR220 many, many times and thought if only…..
I went to see her on airshow day and gave her a pat.

The photographs are fantastic and bring tears to my eye.

Not bagged it yet myself but I see there’s “ubi” in the link.

It’s bound to be good and is probably based on one of the expasion packs??.

For those that don’t yet know(I thought the world did by now)Ubisoft are behind the awsome IL2/Forgotten Battles/Pacific Fighters aircombat games for pc.

    I have IL2 and IL2 Forgotten Battles and I must admit I can’t leave them alone.:diablo:

    If anyone hasn’t seen the above combat games in action,then have a look at this;

Had a very enjoyable day at Cossie.

Got onto the ‘drome with no problems at around 9.00,met up with cousin spadegrip who’d been on the ‘drome since 8.00!!!!!(He’s very keen you know).

The (to back up Fluffy) cloudbase was 600′ and viz 2kms,so the boys in the the BBMF kites(Russ Alchorne and Bob Juddson in the fighters at a guess, listening to the scanner)must have had a pretty exciting run over from Coningsby.

The silly asses in the “flying lawnmowers”(microlights)obviously hadn’t read their NOTAMS and could have been seriously blown off by the Reds.

High notes were Pete Teichman in Jumping Jacques,Coco in the Fleet’s Seafury(spadegrip’s thinking “I knew he’d say that!”)with John Beattie in the SPAD,Cliff Spink in the “ME 109″(Buchon),the P40 which is a very nice aeroplane and sounded very well and the BBMF gang of course. The Spit V looks great in Jan Zumbach’s RF*D’s colours.

Low’s were Pete Vacher’s Hurri going tech,no Canberra or Lanc, though like Fluffy says, she can’t be in two places at once and as to landing at Cossie, well I have seen Sally B and Plane Sailing’s Cat on the grass there.

Getting off the ‘drome was a bit of a pig though. We made to go out through the back gate(Shifnal side)but when we got to the end of 24 we were turned left down the other end of the airfield and had to come out on the Wolverhampton side after queing for just over an hour and a half. Thanks a bunch lads, the Mrs missed Coronation Street because of this blunder.

She say’s she’s not going next year because of that(small mercies eh?).
