Please do me a favour and take a moment to raise a glass (of Beer of course) to the memory of my brother Neil and of course Bill. It is hard to believe the Firefly accident was 3 years ago. Most importantly, have a great time there. I know that it was Neil’s favourite airshow and he was always excited to attend the show (both as crew and as a spectator). Unfortunatley I was only yards away from the crash and it affected me quite badly, I offer you the greatest sympathy, but every year, flowers are put on the little tree next to the site, I hope they are today, they deserve to be remembered.

TANGENT ALERT:

It’s also glowworm season (actually, wasn’t there a chinese missile called a glowworm?), and they are currently out and about. I’d only ever seen one on Wednesday – now I’ve seen five!

Yes, a British frigate brought one down in the first Gulf War while protecting the American battleship, whichever one it was, only ever seen glowworms at Beer in Devon and the last time I went there, they had dissapeared.

Magnificent, P-51 nearly took the roof off just now, obviously heading for DX, the passengers in the 737 heading for finals for Stansted at the same time must have been c###### themselves.

There was an Army Air Corps Gazelle doing some very eccentric manouvres in the direction of Wethersfield the other day, lasted for ages, then went and hovered over madams office to the extent that she phoned me up to ask me what the hell was going on.
Yesterday an unidentifiable biplane flew south, we’ve also had a lot of wierd looking microlights over here for the past few days.

Looks as if some of the shots of Waddington were taken from outside the base. Lots of great shots.

Just a thought, if you dont pay to go in there wont be an airshow in the future!!!!!!!!!

I know at least 3 people who go to Cosford each year and park up in a farmers field all day and dont see any thing wrong with it but as above if you dont pay to go in, in the future due to lack of cash, no airshow.

I entirely agree with you, on the other hand I’m going to Legends on Sunday and I will pay £25 to qeue to get in and out, get shoved around on the flightline and generally have a miserable time.
It’s far easier to crash in the field opposite with the sun behind and shelter under a tree, thats why people do it, I’ve been to 2-3 airshows every year at DX over the past 25 years and it gets tiring, they’ve certainly had their tuppence worth out of me over the past few years, so what do I do, take the easy option and be a git, my conscience can’t decide at the moment.

No storm yesterday but it’s all happening now, just seen the wierdest bolt of lightning over the village, it started as a dot then went round in a circle, glad I’m not flying out of Stansted.
My springer spaniel is c####### herself, she hates thunderstorms and her attitude unsettles our Jack Russell who isn’t normally afraid of anything.
I gathered from the wonderful weather girls that this is going to persist until saturday, so there won’t be much time for practising before the event.
