Somehow, I’ve pulled a muscle in my rib cage, I suspect it was while I was desperately trying to stop my bloody dogs from running off last night, it sort of crept up on me overnight, it’s very painful, no way can I drive and I’m getting very concerned about how I’m going to get to Legends this weekend.

Didn’t the VW Beetle get a big boost from the British Army renovating the factory and restarting production to provide ‘cheap utilitarian’ vehicles for the forces of occupation?

I thought that the idea was to kick start German industry back into production for the good of the people, quite right too.
I’m sure that had the VW factory been in the Russian zone we would never had been blessed with those camper vans that our friend in Newquay has to put up with.

I saw the BBC coverage this morning at 6:50, yes the mention of LB as a replica was very misleading for the uninitiated.
On the other hand it was a really nice unexpected start to the day, I only put the TV on for the weather forecast and got lucky.
Hopefully, BBC Look East will make a contribution to publisizing Legends and LB’s efforts prior to the show, as long as we aren’t faced with those traffic problems that arose out of the pre show TV coverage of the Spifire event.
I think it will be an early start on whichever day we choose to go, I would never buy an advanced ticket with our climate, my brother did that for Waddo and had the misfortune to have to go on the sunday, he’s not repeating that disaster this weekend.
As for todays apparent flight round the East Anglian airfields, forget it, the weather is appalling down here today, I doubt whether they would even be happy about flying out of neccessity in 1943.
Incidentally, was anyone on the ground at the US cemetery at Madingley during the flypast.
By the way, the dog came home, she’s ok for the moment.

Iron Maiden, Greatest band on the planet. First saw them in 1986 when i was 18 and have been following them since i was about 14! (was a bit of a greatest hits concert, think this was the 10th time of seen them).
The lights went down, Churchill boomed out his “we shall fight them on the beaches……” speech and they opened with Aces High!!!! Bit of Bruces interest in aircraft coming through (and the video played on the huge screens, the video has Spitfires, 109’s and Me110’s in).
Sat at back of Twickenham so not the best view or venue ive ever been too, i would have rather been down the front but as my partner is only 5′ tall she can never see anything if we do!
Am now shattered as as was at Waddington Friday, drove down to Twickenham Sat, stuck in car park for nearly 2 hours after gig, got back to room at 01.30 and was back at Waddington at 08.45hrs Sunday morning!!
Was it worth it???????? Of course it was!!!! Shame i missed XH558 though. The mag should interview Bruce been as he is also a pilot, met him last year down at Southend last year when he took a trip in the Vulcan down there. Up the Irons!!!!!!!

We could be in trouble with this thread, errrrm, a very nice looking Yak 11, painted white but in Soviet markings flew over here on friday, looking to land at Andrewsfield, I’m sure he was an Iron Maiden fan though, honest, or perhaps he prefers moths.

Get there before the gates open, then on entering the airfield, make for the area next to the Tank Bank, taking your time to get everything out of the car and annoying people by getting in the way while doing so.
Make sure that you securely batten down those 3 windbreaks that you bought at Skegness last year. You may not have enough with only 6 folding chairs, you may have to buy some more.
Make sure you take lots of kids, especially babies who will be terrified and scream, or those in betweenies who form a group and p### about with their mobile phones and yap, or the keen young ones who run around in the crowd playing very loudly with the recently bought blow up Red Arrow, and knock into you during that vital camera shot, make sure that you ignore your kids at all times.
Pity it’s not Mildenhall, you could take dogs there that were terrified and howled all the time while their owners ignored them.
You will have to make sure that the stepladder is well chained to the metal fence or some ignorant people may try and remove it.
Leave all your stuff lying about, no-one will knick it, don’t worry, then you can be happy and relaxed for the next few hours while you wander round the airfield.
On returning to your enclave, just before the show starts, make sure that you look with disdain at the poor sods who have had to set up right at the back of the windbreaks and simply have a view of stripey colours.
Make sure at all times that you will stand up and talk very loudly, especially if some one behind is trying to video events.
If anyones complains about you standing on the stepladder, just pretend you are deaf, or better still be aggresive, well, you got there first.
Impart your lack of knowledge at the top of your voice to whoever is standing close by, after all, we all know that the P-51 currently flying is actually a Mk 52 Spitfire, didn’t you know that.
Make sure that all rubbish is thrown on the ground, drink lot’s of beer in order that you have shoulder your way through people taking pictures at critical times while ignoring them yourself, it’s a few yards to the toilets in the LWH and you may have to queu.
Make sure that you keep your mobile phone switched on at all times, not only in order that it will ring with an annoying tone, but also so that you can call someone and explain to them very loudly what you are seeing.
Don’t forget to stand up and block everyones view at a vital moment, if there is someone behind with a camera, too bad.
Finally, when the Balbo is gathering, start packing up in order to get out of the airfield before the rush, pushing everyone out of the way, and you don’t have to bother picking up your litter either, DX employ people to do that after all.
If you think I’m joking, it’s a bit like ‘Piece of Cake’, these people can do this, but not at the same place or at the same time, or can they, I’ve been watching them do this for a long time.

Does any one know how many Jaguars are actually stored at Cosford, my impression is rather a lot, no doubt more than available Typhoons.
With the final examples being flown up from Coltishall, and from pics I’ve seen, joining quite a few already there, plus no doubt several at St Athan, a ground running one at Cranwell being noted as well, what, 30-40, more?
Is this really some kind of strategic reserve then.
When the Lightnings and Phantoms went, it was pretty final. At Wattisham, I remember the lines of Phantoms being reduced in a corner of the airfield, in my visits to Coltishall towards the end, you never saw one tatty decoy, which was unusual, or was that just 21st century politics.
