Sorry I don’t agree, Keating is propped up by those slavering morons on GMTV who promote his music, have you not noticed how he likes to deviously take the credit for songs he has never written, there are artists I don’t like one iota but have respect for, I take the p### out of Steve Rowell for his liking of people like Tony Bennett, but seriously, he is a fantastic, long lived performer who deserves respect, we are musicisians in this house who know whats what, a certain blonde welsh diva with the sun shining out of her glamorous backside is another one we can’t work out on the fame ladder, my missus can sing her off the planet, but what do we know, she’s a nice girl after all, thats what obviously counts.
And as for James Blunt, God help us, I like the way the media grit their teeth and try to support him, I recall a comment somewhere when it was suggested that it was a pity that he hadn’t succombed to friendly fire.

I was interested to read details of his captivity, but he wasn’t the only POW, as suggested in The New Tork Times, there were the marines and members of the crew of Endurance captured in Stanley as well as the marines captured on South Georgia, who despite them having killed quite a few Argentinian troops, were supposedly treated humanely and with respect, a bit like the paras captured at Arnhem, or is this a myth someone knows otherwise about on both counts.
A bit different to the recent programme about the training of the marines prior to being sent off to Afghanistan when a member of the SAS bluntly told them that if they were captured, there was no way out but a painful death, nice one.

He’s allowed to appear full of himself. I don’t mind someone with a catalogue of work like Paul McCartney occasionally being full of themselves at all. It’s 18 year olds who’ve been playing two years who are full of themselves all the time I object to!

Not picking in the Zeppelin boys, but…

Some guys do look like they’re trying to deny the fact that years (decades) have passed. They’re singing the same songs, wearing the same hairstyles and (in some cases) clothes that they wore 30-40 years ago.
There has got to be a happy medium between a rocker looking like the cast of Last of the Summer Wine…and the male version of Joan Collins or Dame Edna.

The poster for the new Paul McCartney CD had him making the same “surprised” face that he did in the days of the Beatles and Wings, all arched eyebrows with his mouth making an “o”.
I’m not knocking the fact he’s still making music, it’s his right…and my right not to buy it…but come on, enough with the hair dye and the cutie-face pose. (Maybe the pose helps hide any wrinkles?). Remember all the girls that thought you were the “cute one” are now grannies.

Well said JB, I do think that, whatever he thinks we think, Macca can appear a little, shall we say, full of himself sometimes, but then, he would have been prepared to have gone past the Beatles sell by date I reckon, but John saw the light, thank God, how any band in complete internal turmoil could have produced a masterpiece such as Abbey Road though is beyond me.
What cracked me up was that Macca made a ‘surprise’ phone call to Chris Evans on his R2 drive show last night, and what was the main topic, wow, how cool the Zep concert was, apart from the fact that his most desired Xmas present was black socks, but as my missus pointed out, are’nt all men the same.
During the 60’s, I was also a great fan of the Stones and in 67 a really amusing article appeared in Private Eye considering what the Stones would be doing in their dotage, ie appearing at OAP parties with Mick playing the spoons, I found an old wallet of mine when I moved last year and found this article in it, I’ll try and find the thing this weekend and scan it.

So what is the criteria for getting one’s hair cut, is there an age limit then.
Perhaps some of your heroes, ie Mr Bennett and Mr Como, who are considerably older than any member of Zep, should have retired years ago but they’re OK in your eyes I suppose because they have short hair, wear suits and just about manage to croak out your pipe and slippers favourites.
So is Dave Gilmour OK then because he looks like an OAP but can still play a bit, and he used to own a P-51 to boot, is Macca OK because he has short, died hair but dresses well.
I’m 57, my hair is long, not much grey or dyed either, should I stop wearing jeans and retire gracefully then, put the guitar in the loft and start listening to that sublime Mr Bubble with my feet up in front of the fire.
As the band seem to have come back with as much fire and brimstone as in their heyday, there’s not much to argue about is there.
However……………..
I have to admit that the youngest looking member of the band was JPJ with his haircut, and I will only let mine get so far till my missus thinks I look a pillock, but how would one relate to Zep if they all looked like Westlife, no chance, imagine Keith Richards appearing on stage looking like Michael Parkinson, it just wouldn’t work.
So do some of the oldies make you cringe, Brian May perhaps or Roy Wood, would you feel comfortable standing next to Mr Jagger in the bus pass qeue.

Well, we have the Czech a lot of centuries old traditional meal – breaded carp with potatoes salad, as all the Czechs. Whole 24. After the dinner people here give presents to each other under Christmas tree. We have symbol of Christmas and donoring the Christ-child, not some Coca-Cola drunked clown in red, because Christmas is celebration of Christ birth, despite the Czechlands are the most atheistic county in the western World. We also celebration old Christian tradition of Saint Nikolas day in 6. December (bishop St. Nikolas was born in year 250 after Christ) he is similar to Santa Claus but in white and with Christian cross and crosier, he is going around the streets or houses with the Angel and the Devil in 5th December evening and ask children if they have been good or bad during a year and give a presents or bad child is taken by Devil to the Hell, St Nikolas is benefactor of children a lot of centuries.

Well said, Xmas has lost it’s traditions in the UK, it’s all centred round the TV and political correctness, ie look at whats happened to school nativity plays, I’m lucky enough to have a Hungarian over for dinner, but carp, no thank you, too many bones, he’s been over here long enough to appreciate sea fish, it will be smoked salmon for us, Scottish sea loch of course.

Got my ladies treat lined up, not sure which one i would like her in yet .

I think my missus would be worried about burning herself on the oven while trying to get out the turkey if she was wearing any of that stuff, one of the hats might go down a treat though.

Did it not have a problem during the sundays Legends and have to land rather quickly, I think it was supposed to be flying with a Yak 11 which also curtailed it’s display, they were parked on the flightline opposite me and any malfunction went unmentioned at the time.
On my subsequent visits to DX, it’s been languishing in that area of the airfield and I noticed it sitting in that open building on Rememberance sunday and thought it a bit odd at the time, a bit open to the elements for an airworthy a/c, seems strange to have been left for so long, is the problem serious.
The same day I saw them working on Sally B’s missing engine, though it was in-situ at the time, it looked exceedingly black around all the cylinders.
