Don’t worry, I wouldn’t dream of giving anything away, my missus is about a quarter of the way through, she’s a bit knackered this morning having been hooked on it till about 2:00am this morning, she doesn’t read as quickly as me so I’ve got to bite my lip for a while yet.
My only comment is this, sometimes the book is a bit too complicated and ‘clever’ for it’s own good, and you have to have a photographic memory of the previous books to remember the relevance of some of the characters, which was a problem yesterday because I kept asking Liz who the hell so and so was, resulting in black looks.
I think that some of those kids interviewed on TV yesterday will struggle to get through it. It’ll make a good film, I’d like to see Terry Gilliam direct it, just as he should’ve directed all the other films.

The point, whether you’re into frightening goats or not, is being entirely missed here.

If, as DJJ suggests in his post on page one, that an order was given by the American Government/Military that no further videos were to be posted on sites like Youtube, then those soldiers who contrived to post that video are therefore guilty of breaking a direct order.

If so, aren’t they likely then to face charges of something like conduct unbecoming or conduct prejudicial?

This is perfectly true Kev, this point has been lost on considerations of animal cruelty and general pee taking, it should all be down to general military discipline, subsequent boundaries, and of course ‘Winning hearts and minds’.
It may seem a bit of a joke to some people, but it’s all down really to the breakdown of military codes and attitudes and, in a place like this, the rot can start at something simple like this, poo poo it if you like but unfortunately, and I can’t speak from experience here, they don’t seem to represent the John Wayne type gentlemen that took Iwo Jima, or did they sit on the lava and shoot lizards, not if they wanted to survive and win they didn’t.

So, the next step is to give animals the right to vote? Maybe they should have a dozen seats in Parliament? Give me a break!

Actually, I think that my Jack Russell would have more to offer than some of those Cluckheads in Parliament, at least he’d frighten the life out of some of them, he definately wouldn’t agree to give the vote to cats and rabbits though, besides, he’s very handsome and would look much better than some on the front bench.

I’m self employed so I get zilch when I’m on holiday. Last year our financial crisis meant we went nowhere, apart from a few days out, luckily this is a good place to live and the coast and nice countryside are within reach.
This year we have indulged ourselves with a holiday cottage in Devon, on the edge of Exmoor, Johnny Kingdom lives in the next village, it would be nice to find him in his local pub. Our problem is whether or not to take the dogs with us, the Jack Russell doesnt travel well and we respect peoples rights not to like them on beaches, though we have investigated dog friendly beaches, there are a few. So that’s us sorted for the summer, if you are unable to do much, let me reccomend a local area rail tourer ticket, they arne’t really advertised but cost naff all for a family ticket and cover large areas, look them up on the internet.

Oh dear, by the looks of that picture, it will no doubt fly again, unfortunately the pilot won’t, very sad, condolences to all concerned.

Pity my old man wasn’t still about, he wasn’t there on the day, but crossed it during Operation Goodwood, that could be an interesting tangent, I’ll dig out his war diaries and keep you informed. He was quite overcome during our visit in 94, we met Major Howard and Richard Todd, fantastic day.
