Cees – I have an idea on where I can put my hands on one!
David,
Have you received my messages?

Can you see the similarity with the Mosquito?
Interesting, was it intentionally?

A year or so ago there was some talk that perhaps parts of one of these aircraft was still kicking about but it doesn’t seem to have come to anything.
Mark
Mark,
Yes, as you know it was a period of feverish rumours and at a certain point a friend of mine (whom I know is very dependable) conformed its existence, it didn’t show up in the end (yet). Although I have still some hope that this is not a rumour, I will keep you informed about any developments. It is very quiet at the moment. The rumour by the way has it that it was the spares ship that survived somewhere in the west of Holland. A photograph taken in the late forties/early fifties showed the fuselage still in camouflage.
With the recent Stirling fuselage discovery there must be other treasures just waiting to be discovered.

EF did have a Beau nose on display, although I think this was the RAF Museum mock-up? Could be wrong.
Well, it’s now back at the RAF Museum as I saw it there last friday next to the Beaufighter.

Bump, just keep them coming.

How much of that would be useful? If returned to the UK, would it be displayed as crashed or parts incorporated into a rebuild?
IMHO the best thing would be to display her in the same fashion as she is
lying now, but under cover. Although the wings and tail are reasonably complete, the fuselage is shredded. It would need a complete Lancaster fuselage (or built from scratch) to restore her and destroying her originality in the process (oh no, not that discussion again 😀 ).

I thought the canopy on the ‘262, even on the two-seater, lifted up to the right, not sliding back as on Martin’s second pic??
It does, but the pic shows it to be just lying loosely on top of the rear canopy. The whole condition of the aircraft is a bit shoddy (at the time the pic was taken that is).

Where is Richard Woods? He was trying to get her back to the UK.

The earlier guises of PA474 as AJ-G and KM-B showed her in very matt finish witch looked absolutely beautiful and warlike. I was glad that after the many years of gloss finish she is now semi-matt. Of course it was all done to ensure her preservation, but it shows how far things have improved the past few years.
Long may she fly (and that from a Hally-guy :p )

Looks like early 109 (E) to me.

😮 😮 Bl**dy ….ehh you know. And nothing remains from those Typhoon/Tempests? Or were sections saved as well.
Cees
Is that half a Liberator or Privateer on the left?
Cees
thanks but I was hoping for people to post them on here
Hi Peter,
I have no new photo’s of the Halifax panel to show other than the ones you have already seen. But watch this space later in the year as with the new workshop and the 156 Hally drawings there will be some great progress planned. 🙂

Too small bombbay to carry the large bombs “Butch” Harris was so fond of. Wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Happy 2005!!
Hi all,
Sorry for the delay but late last night we got back from four days enjoying ourselves in London including new years eve at the London Eye. What an amazing experience. We were actually advised not to go to Trafalgar Square as it seemed pointless with 100.000 people expected to be there (can they all fit in the fountains?). But standing near Big Ben and the fantastic fireworks near the London Eye (pity the photo’s didn’t come out too well) was amazing and won’t be forgotten.
Well, 2004 ended very well with a visit to Hendon on 31st of december, and the new year started very well visting the IWM at Lambeth and meeting Harry Frazer Mitchell in person next to PN323 and he gave me 156 copies of Halifax drawings. This will also be the year that NA337 will be fully assembled and on its gear again and we will have a worthy representative of a restored halifax. I also hope that that search for LW170 be successful so we can look forward to see another Halifax raised for restoration.
May you all have a very happy and healthy 2005 and also wish you every succes with all your projects and activities.
Cheers
