Twelve O’Clock High ….my favorite all time film !
Lots of good choices here…while not a flying scene .I love the briefing with Gen Savage ( Greg Peck ) from Twelve O’Clock High ….. a great movie with many memorable scenes. A speech with the “Bark On” as we use to say in the service ! Classic aviation film for sure !

Red Tails …worth your viewing
My main hope..much like that of the results of those who saw Band Of Brothers…will get all generations to study this period of history & learn more of this time period and what these fellow American veterans had to endure & overcome to put themseleves in harms way.
Sadly many have passed on feeling like second class citizens…in memory of their service and the sixty-six who were KIA in combat….. BlueNoser352 will proudly pay for a seat at this movie.
A friend of mine sent me this note from a meeting she had with a Red Tail Pilot……………..

In 2006, I had the privilege of meeting Tuskegee Airman, Charles McGee, at the WWII conference in New Orleans. I walked over to the museum every day of the conference. One morning I found myself walking with an elderly black man. We were just chatting about this and that, when I noticed he had Air Corps insignia on his jacket and I thought, “I wonder if this guy was a Tuskegee Airman.”, so I asked him and he said he was. He told me that at that time, there were segregated bathrooms and water fountains even in New York. I was kind of surprised. I knew that was typical in the south, but not the north. I suppose it was nationwide.
I told him of a documentary I had seen on his outfit a year or two prior. Some American outfit (can’t recall who) was having a hell of a time in Italy and on the verge of being overrun. The C.O. radioed for air support and the Tuskegee Airmen were called in and saved the day. The C.O. radioed in again and said, “You tell those guys they did a great job.”. The man on the other end of the radio said, “That was a negro outfit.”. The first man said, “I don’t care who they were, you tell them they did a great job!”
I am looking forward to seeing the movie.
Well a good soundtrack at least !
Well at least Ron Goodwin gave us a very good soundtrack and theme music for the film….. love the flying scenes….. you guys would make tough film critics for sure….. you can pick up the dvd of the film here for about ten bucks …..
Great book from fighter Pilot in Stalag Luft III
Been reading a truly fine book ,written by a RCAF Hurricane Pilot who was shot down and captured in the N African desert in 1942. He ended up in Stalag Luft III…he was down in the tunnel when the escapers were discovered. Great insights into daily life & the constant battle with the Germans…great book ! Here is the website !

Dave thanks for the follow up here!
Dave:
Thanks much for the info and follow up here, indeed their ranks now grow smaller. Time has taken so many of them from us. I did not read here or just might have overlooked it…the passing of Billy Drake. Our history channel here in the US ran a great program with him and his going to France to see his old Hurricane dug up that he was shot down in…..at least I think it was a Hurricane…..great programs and comments from him.
Hope all is well with you and family!
