Mike J Thanks !!
Mike J..thanks, will try and get hold of a copy. The program here on the US History Channel was most impressive and you have to give the two historians much credit for uncovering the evidence that led to his body being recovered. Most impressive funeral in German for the man !

Ian… very good photos of Normandy!
Ian:
Had the pleasure of being in Normandy last June 6th for two weeks, your photos bring back many memories and emotions. Meet so many great veterans from the USA, Britain , Canada and the wonderful people of Normandy and France who welcomed us with open arms. Great set of photo’s, have a great interest in the Channel Island occupations and have several DVD documentries on this topic. Enjoyed the latest DVD on this subject in “Island at War”. Hope to visit the Channel Island on my next trip to Normandy. Also have a copy of “In Toni’s Footsteps” about a German in Guernsey during the war. Thanks for posting those, do you have any on German fortifications in the Channel Island? Hope to make it over to Normandy this October..some place & the emotions are stirred with a visit to that place.
Thanks !

Capt Morgan’s last mission !
Jimmy you are right, Morgan and his crew did complete their 25 mission requirments on May 17th to Lorient, France. The Memphis Belle was flown on the 19th with another crew with Lt C. L. Anderson at the controls ! Should have said this in my eariler post, thanks for the correction. I did get a nice tour of Bassingbourn once and had the thrill of driving down the main runway and see the great museum now housed in the control tower. Quite a thrill indeed !!!
Thanks !

The Memphis Belle…well the 1990’s version !
When the David Puttman film came out in the 1990’s this B-17 came here to promote the film and Eugene Adkins (sp) a former 91st veteran who I believe flew some missions on the Belle was there as well.
Enjoy!

Yes a great warbird !!!
Mark:
Yes, what a great all around fighter and its earned its place in the hearts of many! My father fought with the 4th US Marine Division in the Pacific in WWII and loved to see those fighters in action , supporting US Marine advances across the Pacific! I see Ba Ba Black Sheep is coming out on DVD soon, more Corsair action to enjoy! Remember all who gave so much on this Memorial Day!

Thanks Whiskey Delta !
Outstanding Whiskey Delta….great looking P-51’s, where was the video shot? Looks like that all metal P-51 just rolled off the assembly line ….made my day. Nothing like the sound of a Merlin cranking up !!!
Thanks !

Malcolm congrats on the Hurricane project !
Malcolm:
Saw the fruits of you labor here in the states and really enjoyed watching this wonderful project unfold . Enjoyed reading your website and looking at the types of radar you use in your work. What were the names of the streets or intersection in London where this dig took place? Next time I am in London would love to see where this took place. Must have taken quite an effort to convince London city offficals to allow such a dig to take place and block off traffic on this busy London street. Fantastic program on taking a event that took place 60 plus years ago, use old photographs & film clips to find the location of the Hurricane ! Are you currently looking for any more WWII aircraft crash sites with your company? Thanks for the link to your site!
All the best!

Greeting Corsair166b !
Yes Corsair166b, I noted your reply and yes it looks like this company has really done its research on each aircraft they feature. If you go over the mustangsmustangs.com, you see a nice review written by Wade the aviation artist of this particuar DVD…over 6 hours of material here on two disc. Yes, I still need to order the one dvd Corsair title you speak of. I see that the NBC series “Ba Ba BlackSheep is coming out on DVD, so there is more F4U action to enjoy. Hope all is well with you …all the best!

Thanks for the update guys!
Thanks men for the updates and additional info on security for bases of the Eighth. Guess I never saw any complexes likes these, of course been to Bodney on numerous occasions and saw these in person. I knew from reading the groups history that each USAAF 8th & 9th bases had security bunkers at each of their bases. Alan125, thanks and I noted your fathers relationship to Y-29 , where the 352nd moved to during the winter of 44/45 to support 9th P-47 Thunderbolts during the Battle of The Bulge campagin! Yes, the loss of Maj Preddy and its circumstances haunts many of the veterans of the 352nd to this day. If you look back a few pages on this forum, I posted numerous photo’s of Maj Preddy and his last two Mustangs on the forum…enjoy and thanks again !
