    Bank Holiday weekend….

    Mix of good and bad….

Good:D went to a fantastic ‘boat party’ near Soham/Upware on Saturday night/Sunday morning, over-indulged with the ‘fire water’ and regretted it later.
Got woken at about 08-30 Sunday by various microlights, C5 Galaxy (very low!), Mustang, low-ish and heading north west (Janie?) then a mysterious Pa22 (a bit too high to make out the reg) flew over before heading east…Moggy C? (or was it too early!?). The ‘parting shot’ was the BBMF flying over as we headed back to the marina near Ely.

Bad: Loosing my mobile phone with all my numbers in…:(

As on your website?…… (well worth a look by the way if anyone hasn’t already) Not sure whether the mini spitfire on the site has retractable u/c but may have and it is based on the Taylor Mono (or maybe Titch).
I do know of a WAR Seafury replica (UK based, in Leicstershire) that had retracts, they were hydraulic and hand pumped.

Quite a few WAR (and Loehle) replicas have retracts, might be worth a look.

…..and you can build one in your garage. One dead VW Beatle and a trip to B&Q should do the trick….:p 😀 😎

One possibility could be the ME108 which is at operated from White Waltham. It came down (safely) on a field last summer near Henley-on-Thames after engine failure, convieniently behind a pub.
TomW is, I believe the expert in that neck of the woods maybe he could add more.

(suspect MoggyC may have been involved with this, since its in close proximity to Brakspear’s brewery…..:D;) )

Dakota2: I can’t tell you where to find a list of WW1 Airfields (have you tried Google?) however, Portholme Meadow at Huntingdon was used extensively for flight training during WW1 (also site of an early aircraft factory). Look left when travelling westbound on the A14 at Huntingdon as you cross the river bridge and you will see.

RAF Wyton also near Huntingdon was an active airfield during WW1. One of the original WW1 hangars was (untill 3years ago) in use as a garage/repair facility in central Huntingdon by Murketts garages. Now the site of Sainsbury’s.

    RAF Upwood originally WW1 airfield.

    Interesting thread…
I have met some very interesting ‘famous’ folk, shared a cinema/television screen with some… Eddie Izzard, Ewan Macgregor, Emily Woof and Sarah Cawood were a good laugh on set.

Sir ****ie and Anthony Hopkins are absolute gents, having met and chatted to them on location for ‘Shadowlands’, most unassuming and friendly. ( for the ‘censor’ thats Sir Richard Attenborough!)

Richard Gere (least said the better!), Sean Connery (another gent), Julia Ormonde (….oooooh!:D), Martin Shaw, David Putnam, Alan Parker, Felicity Kendal, Babara Windsor (total scream…), Jeremy Irons.

Most of the cast of Eastenders, the Bill, Casualty, Londons Burning, Emmerdale and a few from Hollyoaks(!) at various points.

Went to school with Jay Kay, Jamiroquai (year above, some of his early gigs were great), and Dave Mcfadyen who plays Tom in BBC ‘Spooks’…. Oh, and the Prince of Malaysia (Fiaz)

Prince Charles and Prince Andrew (thats a story in itself!)

There are others but they don’t immediately spring to mind.

XH558… If HLF do not fund her then she WILL be ‘reduced to produce’ and lost forever, sad but true. Unsucessful bid for HLF money will not result in her being rebuilt to taxiable status.

Mixtec, CFS3 is a great deal heavier on the graphics (and CPU) than CFS2, lots more detail, trees, effects, moving vehicles, excellent terrain mesh, sound effects and it will give most processors a good workout… (looks REALLY good on a cinema screen :D;)…and even better with a few beers aswell!) wouldn’t recommend that anyone try on much less than a 1ghz CPU, 64mb graphics card, 256mb RAM with a single monitor.

Online a great deal of difference is made by the number of players in the room/game, and especially your connection speed/reliability…. cable or broadband is ideal.

The patch that has been released for CFS3 is really a must have, especially if you have a force feedback ‘stick… (pre-patched the forces work in the opposing sense!)

Personal experience of the CFS3 rooms, very mixed, be prepared to get shot down loads if you’re a ‘newbie’ but there are some great games going on…. the ‘missions’ and ‘team dogfights’ tend to have the more serious/friendly gamers (less kids n hot rods).

    Have fun, and remember,….. ‘It’s only a game’!…..

mixtec, your prob with not being able to join is due to ‘patched ‘and ‘unpatched ‘ versions. Patched version will not allow joins of non-patched and vice-versa. Ergo if you patch you will still get incompatiblities. Go get the patch from here :
I fly under the same name as here or very similar(or with a few numbers) I think I may have ‘mixed it’ with you before online.

    http://www.3dgamers.com/games/combatfs3/#filelist
    Multilanguage versions too.
or any search on google will bring up the goods. Very large download but worth it.

Also (and this goes for cfs1, cfs2,cfs3) go visit
    http://www.avhistory.org
there are some great planes for anyone interested in the historical side with(more) ‘realistic’ flight dynamics and systems.

for additional aircraft/scenery/’tweaks’ you can (all versions cfs, fs)

A shade/cover for cockpit night lighting perhaps?
I think for a dye container it is perhaps a bit small…
