There’s a thread on WIX about it.

Still an A**ebook link but a bit of info too.

I think I read Wethersfield but was only speed reading/glancing so not certain.

    Certainty?

    OK, whatever you say…

No. That’s the only one that’s ever been dismantled and reassembled after being moved.

All other extant Vulcans flew in to wherever they are now.

Forget Kew Gardens. They have absolutely nothing to do with, or interest in, aeroplanes.

I wouldn’t mind betting a Flycatcher is some sort of carnivorous plant.

I agree, Google has got steadily more useless as time has gone.

Unfortunately, the alternatives are generally even worse.

I’ll be absolutely staggered if it’s ever reassembled.

AFAIK, it’s only been done once, with the entire resources of the RAF behind it if necessary.

Where’s the money, and skill-set, coming from?

I’ve never understood why people who buy homes next and airfield, church etc. and complain aren’t just told to clear off.

The response should be you knew it was there when you bought the place, and if you didn’t, sue the surveyor or solicitor.

Not even a slightly odd comment.

Put back together again is the operative term…

Apart from the massive problem of getting it there, yes possibly.

Vulcans weren’t designed to be taken apart and put back together again.

I assumed Fairly was a typo but as you’ve now put that twice I’m not sure.

I hope you are searching for Fairey?

I’d noticed Kidlington’s name change from signs from the A34. I think Lydd is now London Lydd too.

We never got London Finningley but if it hadn’t closed it wouldn’t have surprised me.

I wonder how many tens of thousands that cost, just because some jobsworth had a “brilliant” idea.

I didn’t renew my membership after they abolished Friends of Duxford and rolled it into Friends of IWM.

My FoD membership was still valid for FL’18 but when we went we were charged £10 for my wife to enter the FoD enclosure and the previously free tea, coffee and biccies were the special reduced member’s price of £1.95 for a teabag in a polystyrene cup.

I would have carried on paying the FoD membership indefinitely even though for several years I didn’t visit at all.

No doubt the fool that abolished FoD can prove that a one-off £17.80 is better than £40-odd a year indefinitely.

This diatribe is relevant! A few years ago I found online somewhere that somebody had made an FOI enquiry regarding how many FoD members had enrolled as FoIWM.

There were around 5,000 FoD members – about 800 continued with FoIWM.

    Another roaring success…

I’ll wait to see when the details come out but Leeds is certainly more convenient for me being under an hour away rather than 2 1/2 hours or so to Duxford.

I haven’t re-read the entire thread to see if it’s previously been mentioned, but I seem to recall there was a TV programme based on Len Deighton’s “Bomber” some years ago.

    Could that be it?
