Clearing out the garage again……finds XB261 Final Southend Day 🙁

it has been an awful long time since I last logged onto this forum. I guess a lot of people these days use social media for communication.
I’ve had a lifelong passion for aviation since being an engineer in the 80s. I supported the Skymaster project by being a member of the society and paying a subscription and have absolutely no regrets there
just over a year ago there appears to be some sort of problems within the group and it was clear after a few months that the owner of the airframe and Mr Henry Hyde, had some sort of ownership disagreements with the society itself. The society of course was also a registered charity
there is absolutely no doubt that there was a team of individuals that were passionate about the project, and the thousands of hours and pounds which had been put into restoring that amazing aircraft to near running condition. You can say what you like on whether you think it was viable or not, but the fact of the matter is that there are three engines all running perfectly, with the majority the rest of the system operating
so without gaining a long heated argument about who owned what, I think it’s perfectly reasonable for all the people that are interested in this aviation historic community to ask the alleged owner Mr Henry Hyde just what happened?
maybe this can be done through the press or fly past magazine itself??
because at the end of the day we’ve lost a C 54, and how many of those are left in the UK intact? It’s a travesty it’s an insult to people who worked on her over the last few years. It’s not unreasonable to ask Mr. Hyde for at least some sort of detail comment on exactly where everything went wrong
but unless I think this will fall on deaf ears, he certainly hasn’t made any contact with anybody that I’m aware of in recent months and has just gone ahead and scrapped what was a very historic airframe as we know
so Mr Hyde if you read this perhaps you’d like to comment or comment on some of the social channels which are covering the story. Also maybe the editors of fly past magazine themselves might like to run some sort of editorial, because there’s a lot of people throughout the world that would like to know just exactly how this situation has happened

Airshow
There is a Facebook page set up, currently with 900 likes, some locals are trying to see what can be done, to keep what i am sure you will agree is a fantastic FREE airshow going.

Someone will be able to answer this on here !

Poor Bruce.
Mind you i done a double take, but its getting late 😉
Could it be related to this ?

Yes, it was sent down for 15 years on ‘grooming charges’.
As for that Fiat , it was at DX in about 94, utterly derelict , stripped and knackered.
Janie asked what happened to the boy on the right. Well all I Googled was “Southend Robot” and posted a link to the Pic.
Looked at the guy`s Flickr pictures, then realised he lived about 100m from my then house and is still a keen photographer..small world.
WJ244…… on that subject and resurrecting this thread, what happended to G-ADXS ??? now that would fit in my garage !
