Although the majority of my ‘collection’ has come from E-bay, The gems in my collection have come from aerojumbles.
E-bay is good becouse it is one long continuos aerojumble all year round but it is bad becouse it can drive prices up above it’s worth.
Depends which way you slice it I suppose but for me I love a good jumble but also keep an eye on E-bay.

Hows the special Jag comming on Bex?.
John.
It seems there is more to this issue than meets the eye! There seems to be some kind of alleged dispute between the aircraft owners and the council in terms of ownership and her removal .
How can the aircraft OWNERS have a dispute with the council about OWNERSHIP:confused: .
John.
Dug out my photo’s of the scrapping of the Beverley on the site of the old Southend Historic Aircraft Museum. The date on the back of the prints says 1989, did’nt realise it was that long ago. The cockpit was saved and spent some time at Duxford as a walk through exhibit, not sure where it is now though. I also believe the engines were saved but dont know their ultimate disposition. (Sea Fury projects ?)
I think that the walk through Beverly cockpit you are talking of is currently at Newark Air Museum, someone correct me if I am wrong! .
John.
Happy birthday Mr T T have a good un 😀 :diablo: 😀 .

Moggy,
I go mostly with everything you say, including the mood lighting, it gives that certain something to the whole display.
The first time I saw all those German bombers up close I left that place feeling strange, no amount of reading or listning to stories gave me such emotional feeling as I did when I saw them.
I appreciate so much more what all those people did for us so long ago and what they went up against having seen them in such a way.
The Hurricane is a missed opportunity I think, she is stuffed under the stairs somewhat out of the way, not being able to get a full 360 degree view reduces the visual impact, also why has she been shot blasted clean like that?.
Should they not have tried to preserve as much as possible rather than just blast away all that history, what was the story behind all this?.
While photographing the Hurricane some brainless oiks were stood next to me laughing and joking about it to which I replied “someone might have died in that very seat, fighting for his country and your freedom”.
Compunctious silence was the reply……………
Having got over problems with photography at Hendon I don’t mind it so
much but I feel that the place is never really on top of what it is doing, so many gems n the collection but no one really knows what to do with them, heres hoping that they find a budget plan that will help the place flourish even if it mean a few measly quid on the door.
Regards,
John.
Afternoon all,
Thans for all the comments, I think my problem at Hendon regards colurs was that I had my camera set on ‘white balance auto’.
On some shots the cam must have got confused and picked the wrong type of white balance so maybe this would be something to look at doing manually next time.
I only have an old version of PS (V.7) so had a little mess around with the colour balance…….
Before…

After…

Comments/hints/tips all welcome.

Humm. tripod pass… i got all the way round hendon including the battle of britain hall without a pass, i was just lining up the lightning when some “lovely polite” (grumpy) member of staff informed me i needed a pass, no-one else seemed to even care, numerous other staff including the front desk bothered to tell me i needed one. Checked the terms for photography the next time i went and on the web site and there is no mention of the requirement for the pass.
Read the section about admissions policy:D

John.
Peter,
I afraid it is only a mock up of a ground power connection.
John.
A few more from Friday…….

Favourite jet of the day has to be the ME262, it just had that something that kept me captivated for a while.
Regards,
John.
Thanks all for the comments,
I had no real problems this time, when I entered the museum I was handed a tripod pass before I even opened my trap to ask so was happy with the service.
My one major gripe was the mezanine deck in the Sunderland Hall was shut yet again, I asked and was told it was that there was not enough staff to open it (this was while five of them were stood in the background chatting about what they were having for lunch:mad: ).
Nashio, tripods in Hendon are an absolute must if you want to get good shots, I was ranging from 1/16th of a second right down to 15 second shutter speeds:eek: , even still I have had to tweek them a bit to bring out detail.
Will post more in a bit.
Regards,
John.
My thoughts and condolences go out to all involved.
Rivet,
The pilot’s name IMHO should not be released until all family have been informed, they should be given time to grieve and then made public with their permision.
