first time she’s been out in sometime though, isn’t it something like 4 years? its good to see her oustside and on her own gear 🙂

    Nashio

She was rolled out last year to great fanfare and a flyover by PA474 when they managed to get funding to enable the test flights.

I thought it was tactical strike and reconaissance 2 because the canberra was Tsr.1 and the Tsr.2 was going to be its sucessor?

Interesting thought but the Canberra was concieved intially as a bomber, or so I thought?.

Makes a lot of sense when you know!!
Just had a further thought. Trying not to cause offence here.
Originally coming from that area of the world myself I’m aware that sometimes things get mislaid only to turn up again later. As most large TSR parts went to Essex to be shot up I’m just wondering if anyone has checked to see if anything is actually still around or anyone local has any bits in their back gardens? Maybe an idea to ask locally if anyone has any memories?

Well funny you should mention but I had a thought very similar not so long ago and here is what I came up with…..

Newark Air Museum….Piece of wing section and an engine hatch
Coventry Air Museum….Canopy and an ejector seat
    FAST at Farnborough….Ejector seat
    Brooklands….Gutted nose section
Bruntingthorpe…..Did have a pair of zero timed engines but I think they have gone to Gatwick Aviation Museum?.

Without a doubt there are a large number of other parts that are out there, only at cockpitfest last week I was stunned to see an inertial giro mechanism sat on a desk that was destined for the TSR.

Its hard not to imagine how things would be very different if she had been put into service, I am a self confessed jet freak and every time I see her at Cos or Dux I always end up rooted to the spot with a distinct lump in the throat.

TSR2 stands for Tactical Strike and Reconaissance, the number 2 denoted mach 2, the speed that she would achieve in level flight (easily!).

The only record I can find of an A&AEE Vulcan that crashed near Boscombe Down is that of XH535 which crashed near Andover whilst returning to BD on the 11th May 1964.

    Is this the one?

whats with the tyres on the port wing? i wish that i had been born 40 years ago so i could have flown one of them on active duty, that would have been awesome!:diablo:

Tyres are for holding the tarps and covers down when they are put to bed at night, suspect they are stacked on the port wing for convenience.

    Gentlemen,

Once again the advice is top notch, I have downloaded the spreadsheet and will set my camera up with it, the capture software offer has been taken up but my laptop may not be man enough for it but I shall try it for now until I get my big boys home computor.

I am off to cockpitfest this weekend so hopefully I will post some shots soon.

    Happy snapping all:D .

    Septic,

Spare batt in the pipeline, I am hunting for a grip but demand has outstripped supply so I will have to wait a bit.

Thanks for the link it works perfect, strange how my Rawshooter Premium does not recognise the D200 yet the Essentials does.

I have one little query, is it beneficial to shoot in RAW?, My D70s was useless on Jpeg and the only way to get quality shots with it was to shoot in RAW 100% of the time, on first impressions the D200 in Jpeg mode is awesome and not that much different from the RAW shots.

Can’t wait for the airshow season now:D , many thanks for all your pointers, keep em comming.
