I agree Kevin although the fact that he made that statement show to me at least that both pilots are at ease with that information being in the public domain, simple fact is accidents happen and the AAIB report will conclude deffinitavly what contributed towards that ‘mistake’.
The title though smacks a little bit of tablid sensationalism to try and ‘sex up’ the article and is not in keeping with the content of said article, ideally it should have read ‘I survived vintage plane crash’.
Regards,
John.
Well I dissagree with the title, it implies blame when there has yet to be an AAIB report, typical of thoughtless reporting!

Genuine or not?……..

I like the Mig 23, a couple of significant items are missing such as the gunsight and stick. I wonder why they are going to remove the cockpit from the rest of the aircraft, seems strange to me.
Cockpit section is easily transportable and affordable which widens your possibilities for a sale.
The fuselage looks in a very poor state and is missing some major components, not least the wings! selling this as a whole airframe would be much harder, also once the cockpit section is removed the fuselage can be scrapped earning the vendor some readies in the process.
Owning a Mig-23 cockpit section would be quite special as there are not many at all in the UK, will it be at cokpitfest?:D

If the commentary is anything to go by the yellow tape serves two purposes, this particular airframe has been ‘modified’ to perform several practice water landings, hence the tape, it also helps prevent any fluids contaminating the lake.
In an emergency situation though where a water landing was inevitable then I am sure the tape wouldn’t even be given a second thought!

Just been looking through my HD and not really got any, will be up there in the next few days so will grab a few, it’s not a pretty sight though!

Heck, the fog of twenty some years is hard to see through!! seem to think it was on the right as you went up the lane towards the gate, was up there a few weeks back and was quite shocked to see the state of the land, hey ho as they say.
John.
Sounds like you are both talking about Crashgate three, this was the gate at which you could get closest to the Q-shed and runways end, also the perry track past right in front of you, many glorious summer day spent there with nostrils full of avtur and ears full of avon!!
John.
Just a very quick post to say thank you to everyone involved for a truely superb event, BBMF flypast on Saturday……..

Pagen,
I fear it would render this panel unusable as the panel thickness is only enough to bear one countersink, if you were to countersink it on the correct side then the two would meet and enlarge the hole, thus ruining the machine tollerances of instument to panel fit.
Suprised me how much it went for in the end.
