So is that really a production error, or simply a mod?
Panel looks correct to me for a T.5, it has however not been fitted by the looks of it as there are no mods to it for additional instruments that were fitted during their service life.
As for if it is back to front, iirc this has been sold before on e-bay and the previous seller noted that all the instrument fixing points were countersunk on the wrong side hence ‘back to front’ and also backs up why it was never fitted.

John.
Folks,
Apparently the Vulcan will transit from the Southend show on the Saturday evening to Bruntingthorpe ready for the event on Sunday, the departure time is not fixed as it all depends on when the CWJ event finishes and the runway becomes clear and safe for departure.
The two seat Hunter has undergone a major amount of restoration in the last two years and the team are hoping to get her on display at the event, it may only be a slow trundle around but considering what they started with I will be mighty impressed to see her move under her own steam in any shape or form:).

Comet will be running, as always thought the running order and line up may change due to aircraft servicabiltiy.

Charles,
Having been in your company on several occasions and accomodated by the Lightning Association during visits to Binbrook I have a great deal of respect for the efforts that have been put into XR724.
Justifying ones actions on a public forum can invariably be a futile effort, hopefully your posts will educate some of the doubtors, I for one have read them with great interest.
Kindest regards,
John.
Bit late in the day but I would like to add to this thread, firstly it’s been a very long time since I last visited NAM owing to personal reasons, this event gave me a little kick up the harris and I decided to get down there.
I was yet again impressed with the first rate organisation and welcoming atmosphere of the wole event, the crew at NAM are a great bunch and those who hadn’t seen me fora while made me feel very welcome.
The range of stalls was as ever very comprehensive and although I only bought one instrument, it was the one I had been looking for for a while and gave me a broad smile all the way home!!.
So all in all another cracking aeroboot and my heartfelt thanks goes out to all at NAM and the stallholders who devote their time to making this event what it is.
Regards,
John.
Pagen
XN725 was built as an F.2 and subsequently used as an extensive trials aircraft, sporting several ventral tank arrangements and overwing tank trials, she was also the prototype for the F.3 conversion carrying the square topped fin and straight leading edges.

Mk3, Vulcan maybe?
John.
Very sad news. No possibility of acquiring one of the remaining aircraft after retirement next year I presume? They surely can’t need to recover any spares after that?! I guess the transportation matter would still be a problem though.
Tim,
No matter when or which airframe is aquired the transport arrangements to NAM would still be the same, this is the biggest reason for their withdrawal from tendor and is clearly stated on the museum website.
John.
I should add though that you’re being incredibly naive if you think a published interview represents an honest account of the CAA’s view!
Just how much more ‘from the horses mouth’ do you want it??????
John.
Twin,
A perfectly put statement and a very well thought out decision, although a very hard one for the trusties to have made it has common sense written all over it.
Regards,
John.
as i said in an earlier post i’m far from pointing fingers ,
but we have to remember it is a very old and very technical exceptionaly fast millitary machine
part of the reason the uk no longer allows them to fly
they were not the best safety reccord plane in thier day either
in thier time they were very close to a spacecraft
given all this and then letting enthusiasts run them ( no matter how skilled and efficient !! )
it was a timebomb waiting to go off ( only my personal oppinion obviously )
but none the less pretty close to the tragic truth
we all like to see them flying and they did a stearling job of seeing superb aircraft flying for the last time
hopefully in time they will be remembered for that instead of one accident
but i do feel once aircraft of this type are no longer under the charge of millitary and manufacturers it is time to ground them !!
I’ll have some of what you are smoking please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John.
Plazz,
A couple of quick questions, firsty is the MDC on the Bucc inert or is it fake?, also what precaution was taken to prevent the nav from being injured by the canopy frame on ejection, say if they were sat with the canopy open and the engines running and an emergency required they eject?.
An unlikely cenario maybe but it got me thinking when I sawthe position of the canopy frame relative to the nav seat at the open day.
Regards,
John.
Think I might be doing something that weekend:p:diablo:
John.
Thanks Tony, every day is a learning day!
John.
Peter,
You are correct, of the 18 (I think) that are to be scrapped at Bruntingthorpe, one will be preserved in taxiable condition.
