That type of stick top went into all sorts of aircraft IIRC, F104, F4, F15 and a few others too so without any provenance there is no way to tell if it is from an F15.

Sounds feasable Kenb’o, I think another good point is would they drop bombs that low?, if they did then the AC would be at risk from the blast/shrapnel/debri unless at the point of release they pulled a gut wrenching climb out.

John.
I wonder where they got the idea for the familiar looking undercarriage main gear?? :p :p .

Lightning manuals, AP’s and the odd metalic object.
Currently searching for a complete set of pilot’s notes if anyone can help?.

Damn she looks good……….thats it next day off work I think I’m going to have to make a trip to NAM!!!.
Regards,
John.
That is an old (ish) pic of the Viggen, the latest news on the NAM website says she is now on her undercarriage and only a couple of minor panels and bits to finish off before her official handover.
Does anyone know if there will be a special day for this handover?, I wouldn’t mind being there to see that :p .

I enjoy this forum as a tool for information sharing and education.
I get annoyed when people post threads in the wrong place :p , shouldnt this be in ‘general discussion’?? 😀 😀 .

Why are you so sure it was a sniper programme that put in a last minute bid?
John.
Did the Cheif Petty Officer ever receive anything (posthumously) for his actions?.
I have never seen such a selfless act ever caught on tape, if that man didn’t receive some form of award then it would be a travesty of the highest order.

John.
Also it seems unlikely that the Forrestal only had eight trained firefighters, they stated that in the first explosion six of them were killed and two seriously burnt rendering ALL trained firefighters out of action.
The notion that this was a conributory factor is somewhat dubious as a carrier of such size would have had more firefighting personell than eight and with a fire of that magnitude then the stocks of foam would have given up long before the fire was extingushed.
What then?, sorry lads no more foam we better let it burn us all to death?, I have tried a couple of times to watch these sort of programmes hoping to learn something and I have……..not to watch them again!!.

John.
There can be only one!!.
They all bombers!!!!!
John.
An eclectic mix of jets but wouldn’t it be interesting if we categorize things a bit?
Interceptor:- English Electric Lightning
Fighter:- Mig-29 OVT
Bomber:- Handley Page Victor
Transport:- C-17 Globemaster
Reconnaissance:- SR-71
Maritime:- Avro Shackleton
Just a thought and additions please!!!.
Regards,
John.
If we are talking transport jet then this has to be THE most beautiful one that will grace the skys for a very long time :p .

John.
