Clockwise (viewed from the pilots seat) – in both hemispheres!
Yes, that’s what they appear to do, when I looked last week… and VWoC’s are both RR and Packard-based. 😀
Now, the Hemisphere reference was a salute to Antipodean loo’s btw… a little NORTH American humour. – apparently lost upon some.
One of the two Allisons in a P-38 turned “backward,” which of course is like talking about Brits who drive on “the wrong side” of the road… Perhaps they used P-38 blades?
Actually, I believe most Lightnings weren’t “handed”. 😉
In Canada, we don’t refer to “backwards” much… “Back in the day” Gypsies and Pratts were to be found in similar numbers…
Now, let me see… which way does a Merlin rotate in the Northern Hemisphere?
Marvellous videos… ZA RODINA!!! 😎
Just a quick “Hello”
I go away for six months and I return to a “new” thread, with John Aeropaedia still tops in indentifying…
You gents are SO far ahead of my knowledge of avio-minutia… I wonder why I bother.
Anyway, Hello, All!
Here’s a nice shot of “our” Stringbag, landing @ Oshkosh:

No contra-props there, Brits.
There perhaps was a V-drive – to a single knife-edged racing prop…

So, it’s IN Hungary. Is it of Magyar manufacture?
The one I have in mind is still alive – thus I doubt that it was he who was decorated for nocturnal successes against Zeppelins!
At the risk of being considered rude… aren’t you Brit types prone to mo(u)ld well, like a fine Stilton? 😀
Thanks, John – I was guessing it might be a pere-et-fils deal. Sir Freddy has got to be severely WW II vintage, one guesses?
There was a Frederick Sowrey in WW I who was decorated for night-fighter success against Zeppelins, I believe.
Well, I know it’s NOT the Aussie one, as H-deH used a nose from a Dragon on theirs…
So Chris, “wot” izzit? 😮
In May, 1996, I was in England on business… After a sleepless”red-eye” from YYZ to Heathrow, I was hauling a suitcase off an escalator in King’s Cross Underground station… and literally bumped into her.
I was so dazed, I didn’t say a thing other than a mumbled “Sorry”. 😮
The bedroom attire truly brings back memories… btw, in ’96 she was still a major “hottie” imho. 😉
Soviet Moskalev glider?
From the icy Ottawa Valley, Best of the Season to All! 😀
Is it one of the Maule Rockets?
If it is… it’s an early M-4 – tail’s wrong for an M-5 or later.
Focke-Wulf A-series?
