1: That’s where Flight Attendants are for!
2: That’s where Flight Attendants are for!
3: An accident? What sort of? That accident could happen to anyone.
    4: Justice works slowly!
5: What are you talking about?!

    1. no. In an emergency you can not expect FAs to neglect their duties towards the other passengers just to help this person.

    2. Again questionable. Who says that FAs are trained to help her in the correct way. Which is also in regard to point 3. What is if they are helping here and by accident the person falls. Would the airline not risk another court case if they would use untrained personal to perform those duties.

    3. Accidents that happen while the FAs are helping the person. Helping her on the toilet or something.

4+5. I just find it suspicious that the case was brought to the court in the US. I mean it was a French airline and a british airport. So why not go to court in europe ?? Could it be that this thing only went to court in the US because of the much greater compensation she can expect there.

DonΒ΄t get me wrong, I really think that things went very wrong with the Air France jerk and the airline was not right to handle it the way it did. However I see nothing wrong with asking for a doctors to check if she can fly alone.
Perhaps she should have told the airliner earlier about her physical condition, so that they would have been prepared and all problems could have been worked out before hand.

I think the man was right, but not polite.

How should the woman fasten the seat belts in an emergency ?
How should the woman go to the toilet during the flight without help ?
Who says that the airline would have not alos been sued if the woman would have had an accident while flying alone and the airline not amking sure that she is capable?
And why does she go to court now, when the incident happened in 2000 ?
Could it be that some one is trying to make money from the current anti frnch tendencies in the US ??

A cool, I thought it was the new training destroyer. In which the firing of the gun is simulated by a soldier saying : “Bumm” for every shot and the rockets are replaced by firework rockets to simulate the launch of an ASM. πŸ˜€

Well the EJ has an excellent fuel economy, excellent mission capable rate and a very excellent thrust to weight ratio.

Ok a lot of dreaming going on here.

JSF is no option. The deal for the german industry would be too small. Furthermore after the 180EFs that are planed arrive the need for new planes is rather small. Remember that then there will be only 2 Tornado wings left 82 planes). The ECR wing and the recce wing. The obvious choice would be to get some 20-40 more EFs that are in a ECR/Recce configuration and disband one unit. For strike missions EF will get more stand-off weapons (Taurus) or a UACV might be developed. (in cooperation with France and Russia perhaps)
On the helicopter side. The CH-53Gs (not Ds) are planed to stay in service till 2020-25. SLEP (all airframes) and update (40 airframes) are planed. However the people flying those days think that this is highly unlikely as those helicopters are worn out. As they would requie a complete rebuild and thinking of the new Eurocopter project it is possible that the CH-53s will go in 2015 and be replaced by a smaller number (say one or two wings at most) of HTHs.
Medium transport and CSAR will be done with the NH90. 80 for the army, 43 for the Luftwaffe and 30 for the marine (MH-90 varaint).
Combat helicopter will be the Tiger UHT. 80 examples ordered. 120 planed but those might be converted into more NH90s.

Be carefull, airbus fans will have you beleive the A320 is the best πŸ˜‰

I think the fact that its the fastest plane ever to reach 1.500 units sold speaks for itself in my opinion.

Over 4300 737’s sold and counting.

Talking purely from a passenger view – the A320 is POS. The most unpleasant and uncomfortable flights I made were in the A320 series of aircrafts. The climb rate is bad, so that you get bumped around in the weather until enough fuel is burnt. They are louder and cheaper.
But I do generally preferBoeings anyway. I only prefer the A330 over a 767s.

I think the article is spot on. We have seen some airlines getting ready to reduce theri fleets of 744s and to replace their oldest 744s. But none of those has ordered any new 744 for the passenger role. Look at Korean Air, they are going to convert a good part of their 744s to freihters, while 777s and A380s (unfortunately) are being bought for passenger ops.

Why a new 737 ? 737NG is still the best plane in it market segment. It is winner. Perhaps a special version for South West, but that should be enough.
