When I was working at McDonnell Douglas, no metal brush of any kind was allowed on the aircraft.
Was taught same thing at QANTAS many years ago,even my scraper collection is Perspex or hardwood…

Australia kept on with the “Pig” well into the G series until parts and fatigue took its toll..
Some of the research Vultee did was fired a variety of rounds into bits and bobs of Me110.Mainly the hydraulic,oil and fuel tanks I think to check on the Germans self sealing technology.
