Some very good observations cbstd and you a right about shutter speeds, speeds above 250/th will freeze props and these don’t look far off that. As you say in the period that these aircraft are portrayed I doubt if that could be achieved either by equipment or emulsions available at the time.
The other observation that I made was in photo 2, the fileds below are quite large with no boundary hedges, quite indicative of second half of the last century farming.
They said that about their cars, but boy do they sell now !!
I think its sort of quaintly pretty ish ……..
Sadly you will read on the historic forum in a posting from MOTF that Paul Bowen has recently passed away.
My condelences to his family and friends, despite our grumbilngs him did a pretty good job. There have been a lot of aircraft that I doubt I would have ever seen had it not been for the RIAT organisation.
I met him twice and found him very accomodating.
RIP
MOTF,
Which day are you suggesting for a meet, Saturday is best for me and I will be with Dave Macready and Clive Hubbard who I think you met at OW recently.
Magister works for me (did I tell everyone that I have flown in the OW example…………..maybe the odd 100 times or so!!) and noon is OK
Phil
Good on you Rod, just get in a Hunter (the right Mk please, none of those T7 thingies) and give us some ‘Blue Notes’
I’ll be there, probably Friday PM, certainly Saturday all day and maybe Sunday morning ( I have a weekend pass ticket in my grubby little paw from G-VFWE, but not one from she who must be obeyed unfortunately).
Substitute a Berkshire accent for Scandinavian and Galdri’s desciption fits me, well ……more grey than blonde, thats where there is hair of course………..
We really ought to get a forum RV sorted out, looking at other threads on here loads of members are getting to meet each other and it would be nice to grow that.
I propose that we meet by the Tiger Moth at noon
She looks gorgeous, I can’t wait to see her aloft and with the swiss example alongside.
I will, when I can find them, scan and post mine from the same event, including Wellington, Lincoln, Beaufighter, Vulcan etc……….
What a show that was, I was only 10 but I remember that one alright.
Personally I think that a Baliol would sit very well at OW, its in their mandate and fits nicely with the Prentice and Provost, however not at the expense of the Hornet moth. I believe that the Hornet Moth should stay as should all of the DH types and I tend to agree with David that the Jungmann, whilst a pretty and tough little thing, is not directly in keeping with the collections mandate.
I also agree that the Auster line and Turbulent should be represented at OW. I personally would love to see a T6 / Harvard there as I think ,although the type is well represented in the UK ,they have gone out of vougue and one representing an aicraft that RAF pilots trained on would be popular at OW.
Its probably a good time to buy a Harvard as everyone seems to have deserted them for Yaks !!.
I do not however want to knock THT and the committee at OW as I think that they have done a great job in bringing the collection and the venue into the main stream airshow calendar and making it as popular and unique an venue as it clearly is.
Phil
They are, apparently ,I was not the photographer for any of them, a friend of mine was for two.
From the top;-
Luqa 196?
Bahrain (XM106) 1958
Abingdon 1966
Selatar (we think) 1959

Hi guys, I wont be arriving until at least 11.00 as I have to take my daughter to a horse riding lesson first so dont have all the fun until get there.
Either plan is OK but a PA might just attract some that have not read this.
Look forward to putting some faces to names.
Phil
If anything were to come out of the FAA museum to fly, for me it would have to be the Wyvern. What a beautiful beast that is and that engine – wow.
So anyone interested in a chat ? if so wheres the RV point ?
The connection with the Almighty PF and aircraft I believe to be due to Dave Gilmours interest rather than the genius of Roger Waters.
The Spitfire reference comes from the Knebworth concert of 198??? ,just cant remember, when a spit overflew the arena and stage.
As already said the Final cut album was dedicated to Waters father in part and partly dedicated to the rift between the band and the fact this was likely to be the last studio album.
I also agree with whoever said it , Waters album ‘Amused to Death’ is pure brilliance, a fantasic and emotional piece of work.
As I said to Neil tother night I’ll be there hopefully clutching some Beverley pictures. I did suggest that there might be an RV point for all of us forumies (and PPruners).I’m not too sure of Neils layout so I don’t know what to suggest as a meet up . Perhaps we should all tie blue balloons to our wrists …(joking ! 😀 )
