Steve,
Without boring the rest of the forum the answer to your ex-employer question is …………Crap. I’m out on the 8th July.
Steve,
I’ve got somewhere a copy of ‘Airfields of Oxfordshire’ I’ll see if I can scan the pages for you or tell you who the publisher is so as you can get a copy.
Alternatively you can always pop into OMT and copy the pages if I bring it in.
As a policy I don’t lend books out, no matter how well I know the person, so its nothing personal !!.
Phil
Ah ha I know who you are.
These have a very macabre air about them, I’m not sure that I like them. As Robbo says they do represent someones last moments on this earth and the terror that they are experiencing is beyond comprehension.
So whilst they are historically a very accurate and graphic record of what really happened they should not be viewed lightly and without real respect.
I depends how adult and respectful we can all be I suppose.
Wow,
What a georgous machine,I would love to see that, don’t suppose its coming to the UK though.
Phil
Stringbag,
I assume you meant that ‘Shuttleworths’ PP was aquired from Kennet ?
Thanks Propstrike,
Now then, are either of these the ex John Bradshaw machines or are those separate, if so whats happened to those? or was one of those the one that Shuttleworth aquired ?
A nice man and a great pilot, very much missed.
I met him just once at North Weald in Gary Numans company in the Harvard display days, seemed to be a thoroughly nice chap.
Yes, its a wonderful sound and one that is not heard often enough . If you see a Hunter display given by Rod Dean (in the right Mk) then he produces it almost every time.
I motion that it be madatory during Hunter displays !!
Interstingly the F8 meteor makes a very similar sound in certain display modes (not that we see one displayed now that Winston is down under), thinking about Rod Dean used to display that as well, perhaps its not the aircraft after all 😀
Septic,
If you ask on Pprune I’m sure you will get an answer as there are folks on there who know!!
An expansion on the east end would be interesting !! a decking over the M11 ??
Well done TomB, keep us posted.
I share your views on the corrosion issue.
I think that the entry price to OW is fine as it is (I’m a SVAS member so that reduces it as well) and that it offers good value for money. The draw to win a flight is a separate cost, but its only a £1 for each Magister and Tiger, again bloody good value if you win (as I did in 2002 and had a great flight in the Maggie), its always the first stand I visit. I regularly go with two friends and two of us have won flights in recent years, so thats pretty good odds.
I don’t have much more to add to this thread as I have already contributed on the Pprune version.
I will continue to support OW and the collection and continue to enjoy the uniqueness that it offers.
Not a lot of sea water though !!
Preservation is not necessarily their game either!
Has anyone had a response from the Hull newspaper yet ?
Better than his birthday suit I suppose !!
