    True Grit (1969)

Classic western. Some great lines and probably John Wayne’s best. Is it better than the 2011 version? Probably but they are products of their time.

    The Rite (2011)

Anthony Hopkins and Colin O’Donoghue are priests ridding people of demonic possession. Not quite “The Exorcist” but entertaining nonetheless.

    The Stand (1994)

TV mini-series of Stephen King’s epic end-of-civilization novel. It was always going to be difficult to adapt a great 1400 page novel into 6 hours but this is a decent effort with a fine cast and expansive locations.

There was no shortage of fuel – until the government offered its “advice”. The media, social or otherwise whipped the whole story into a frenzy.

A few I’ve known have struggled to get fuel – a work colleague berated a person in front of them who put £5 worth fuel in their car. It isn’t even a gallon. One I know took visits to 6 different filling stations to get fuel.

This “crisis” should be a lesson for those in charge.
There is no strike, only a vote to consider taking industrial action for a grievance that should have been sorted months ago. In some ways the root cause is neither here nor there. The shortages and queues have been caused not by tanker drivers but by the government and the public reaction to it.

What has happened has been a staggering inability from those in government to predict what the British public are capable of. It was shown in 2000 and again in 2008 and now with access to social media any crisis can spread quickly based on scant information.
The government needs to take a long look at how their actions and their actions alone created this crisis. Their statements were ill-advised, poorly thought through and in some cases plain wrong.

Sadly I suspect that arrogance will mean that there is no chance of this government paying a blind bit of attention to what’s happened.

Good Lord no. Only the best home-baked pasty is good enough.

You don’t think there’ll be a UK-wide pasty shortage do you?

    That’s pretty serious.

    You’re easily staggered! 😀

Not just me. The backtracking begins.

But it wasn’t the Fire Brigade issuing that warning was it…..it was the Fire Brigade Union; I suppose they may have been worried about the additional risk to their members from all those ‘extra’ cans of petrol but then maybe they were worried about something else?

The advice was’t just from the FBU was it though. Some of the fire services are saying the same thing. And rightly so. If the great British public cannot be trusted not to panic-buy can they really be trusted to store fuel correctly?

Then again, they are only following government advice……

The whole affair has been disastrously handled by Maude and Cameron. They have created today’s shortages all on their own. The strike doesn’t even need to happen for there to be chaos. As for Maude’s advice about stockpiling – staggering.
I’ve got around 330miles range showing, the tank is showing bewteen half and 3/4. Should be enough for a few weeks yet so no need to panic. Yet. I’m off next week so our trips out might need to be curtailed a little.
Noticed also that diesel has crept up 3p a litre since last week. Profiteering? I think so.

was finished in RLM70 and 02 on the top with RLM 65 underneath. The movie Buchons may have been two shades of green (RLM70 and 71) on the top.

    This site

will give the equivalent colours in whatever brand you like.

    Hope this helps.
