Burke and Hare
Not too bad with a few laughs. Could have been better though.
Inception
Brilliant. Hollywood at its best.
Strategic Air Command
Great flying shots and er…..well, great flying shots.
So the staff at Tescos that help when there are charity events are there because they are making money for themselves? Bear in mind that it is at an individual level that charity donations are made. Yes there are tax breaks for companies but they are designed to help companies donate. Isn’t that a good thing or are we so cynical that we can see no good in anyone any more?
I would imagine that most charities don’t particularly care why companies donate – the fact that they do is enough.

I’d give my left foot to see that almost £2m itemised, with receipts!
If it is correct, then what hypocritical *******s! So if it’s not a charity they support, they rob from you!
As said by others, completely disgusting, considering their profits.
Eh? What is disgusting about giving £2m to charity?
Rob from you? Last time I looked , nobody was forced to shop at Tescos
They don’t have to give to charity at all. Many companies don’t bother.
I’ll bet some at Tescos are wondering why they bother if this is the reaction they get.

It appears that what is required on this forum is a mutual agreement on subjects, no discussion , no criticism, no disagreements – is that what you want?
I take a lot of time over posts, unlike some it would appear, and make sure my points are clear, concise and to the point. I try and make sure my facts are facts and not supposition.
Cyberbullying? Really? I don’t think so – not by a long chalk. In fact with respect to the news recently, that comment is in rather poor taste.
Maybe you should apply for the job of moderator if you feel that strongly.

Arthur. READ what I stated, if you have a fax, I will willingly Fax it to anyone who wants it. What more proof do you want?.or you could phone the editor of the Lincolnshire Free Press or the Spalding Guardian, and call them liars, and that they made the story up, you may even get the chance to talk to Sharon the reporter. They have spoken to Wings and also to Tescos,
And you have missed the point. You couldn’t verify this when you started the thread yesterday. You started a tirade against Tescos without knowing all of the facts. You only found out those later. THAT is MY point.
There is a bit of this story missing though isn’t there?
I still find it odd that when I Google “Tesco” and “charity” or even “Wings Appeal” I get plenty of hits saying how much money has been collected and giving thanks to the shops, the customers and the collectors. When I try and find out about this 50% policy – not one hit, nothing (except this thread bizarrely). Perhaps this 50% applies to just this store on this occasion maybe. If it is a nationwide policy, nobody seems to know about or it is one very big secret that hundreds of charities are keeping to themselves. Call me a cynic but I find that rather hard to believe.
Merlin , maybe I don’t suffer fools gladly? 🙂

So we don’t like arguments and please leave your sense of humour outside the forum.
Thanks, your not the only one on the forum with those thoughts. I live in a Farming community, and at the entrance to fields, which have gates with the following signs on them, applicable here on the forum sometimes, it reads,
“THINK BEFORE OPENING GATE”
Advice which you, having started this thread remember, would do well to take.
James, I don’t suffer fools gladly, and I have an inbuilt “Ignore” button for certain remarks, which is why I don’t rise to it.
So I’m a fool eh? So much for not rising to it. Can I ask you to withdraw that remark if it was directed at me?
This seems to be a pattern.

All that is required, and it isn’t difficult, is that people take the time to check their facts before launching into tirades about people and companies. That’s all.

I’m not defending Tescos. As I said countless times, what about the real story behind this “event”. Where is that?
Having said that, you’re right. What am I thinking?
Here is what I should have posted.
“Oh my God that’s awful. Typical of a multinational conglomerate to steal charity money. They are a disgrace. I shall boycott them from now on.”
There. That’s much better. Isn’t it?
I remember now why I stopped posting here before – contrary opinions not welcome
