Well that’s the problem with statistics isn’t it. I rather think that the sample size shouldn’t make that much difference – it is the quality of the sample that counts. I couldn’t find the sample size anyway
It does seem to be a national pastime though – moaning about the NHS. We seem to hold it very dear and yet do little except slag it off continually.

Even Cameron called it “second-rate” – must have been a great morale-booster that one.

This is why overall spending on the NHS has increased year on year without delivering widespread and tangible benefits to the end user who, coincidentally, funds the whole shebang.

But isn’t it the case those involved either as patients or as employees have seen improvements – I know I have.

As GA says, who organizes appointments, salaries, rotas, holiday cover, wards and all the other trivia that go towards the successful running of a complex organization. Do you really want doctors and nurses doing all that?

Some excellent shots there. The colour is a bit too saturated in some of them for my taste though.

I’m still thinking about it. The weather looks poor though.

Is it the case that it was classic CFIT accident but due to lack of evidence we can’t pronounce it as such? So basically it boils down to legal technicalities.

    It was a VFR flight.

And flew into IMC conditions at the end apparently.

Give wards to senior nurses and get rid of managers of them…… make it a requirement to become a manager they must be a qualified doctor or nurse.

Why would you do that? Do you really want a doctor or a nurse making decisions about HR or salaries or budgets which they are not the slightest bit qualified for anymore than you would want the hospital cleaner carrying out operations?
I would rather have clinical staff working on clinical matters.

I can only repeat what my experience tells me. The NHS over the last few years was vastly improved over that of the early/mid 1990s. Is the fact that the service improved during the term of a Labour administration just coincidence? I think not.
Recently some items of care we receive regularly have dropped in standard – that has happened after Labour left office – I don’t believe that is coincidence either.

David Cameron said “NHS is safe in our hands”. We’ll see but I have my doubts.

Thanks very much to our Human Factors Armchair expert.

There is something odd about this decision. If the cause wasn’t negligence or technical failure, what was it?
